My
name is Alice. I was born and bred in Embu and thereafter moved to
Nakuru. Am a mother of 4 children and happily married. I run a poultry
project within my home in Teachers a land that i purchased and built.I
started this business out of the inspiration i got from my mother who
loved keeping chicken. Secondly, this is what i have known for quite
sometime and i have passion for it.Thirdly, it has raised my standard of
living and hence educated my children. That is why i ventured into this
business and i look forward towards becoming a big supplier with the
coming of the East Africa Community.I purchase chicks, feeds and
medicines out of the income i get.I have as well out of this business
established market links and my project is doing quite well.
My
business is all about poultry keeping, sourcing and supplies of eggs to
retailers and wholesalers.
The source of income actually accrues from this type of
business/service.There is demand in this business especially in hotels,
individuals and it is one of the lucrative business at the moment. My
customer prefer doing business with me due to the following reasons: My
business is all rounded in the sens, i supply eggs, chicken, chicks and
give advise to those who come for it. I always make sure that my clients
get the services they want and that is my bottom line- Customer
satisfaction. The business is profitable since after all deductions, iam
able to save Kshs. 40,000.I will use the loan to add more stock so that i
can expand and enhance my market positioning.
With this loan, i intend to purchase 300 chicks meant for meat which i will supply to individual retailers, hotels and other eatable places. The loan will increase my income, pay school fees for my children, pay rent as shelter and meet other most basic needs within my households.
I have been a prompt person in paying and i have kept my word in this repayment. I have kept my lenders all along in giving progressive reports on the impact of the loan and business as well. With an extra income, i look at a situation where my business will grow exponentially and this will make me more self-reliant and economically independent as a woman.
Economic independence of women is key to development.
