I was born in 1983 31 years ago in a village called matete in mslava district of kakamega county.I began primary school in 1989 at kivaywa primary school. In 1997 i sat for my KCPE exams and attained 471 marks. In 1998 i joined kivaywa High School where i sat for my KCSE in 2001 and attained a meangrade of B plain. This grade enabled me to secure a chance in Moi University where i persued a bachelors degree in Education Science.I graduated in 2007 with a second class honours. After graduation it was not easy for me to get a permanent job.since then i have been teaching in private schools.Due to the salary and the rising standards of living i found it wise to start a business to get some extra cash.currently i teach in a school employed by the board of managers as i wait to be employed by the government.During my free time i love sports, reading novels, listening to music and singing.
I started my business three years ago in kapsoya village.I sew bags used by pupils in primary schools to carry their books.these bags are of different sizes and are made of different materials. They also come in different colours. The fact that most pupils in a slum next to kapsoya estate and back in my home village could not afford bags n therefore used polythene bags to carry books inspired me to start this business. The bags are not expensive and therefore most of the parents can afford to buy them for their children. I love my business despite the challenges faced.Apart from the financial benefits it has also helped the community in as far as environmental conservation is concerned. The use of polythene bags has reduced tremendously. The sale of these bags has really helped me support my family.I do this from the profits i earn. The challenge am facing now is the need to purchase a sewing machine that can help me sew high quality bags so that i can expand my market.with asewing machine am sure i can make better bags and the demand will rise thus leading to a rise in the income.
When I get this loan I intend to use this funds first in purchasing a sewing machine which will go hand in hand in improving the quality of bags that I produce for school kids, also I will also increase the quantity of the bags that I produce and this will in one way or another improve my income which in the near future will help me to atleast bring on board one or two people to assist me in running the business at a salary. This business also gives me a sense of satisfaction as I will be producing affordable bags which each pupil will afford and this will lead to environment conservation because there will be no more dumping of waste paper bags which is really a good thing too.
