About Me

My name is Douryn Bochere Ongwae. I was born in Kisii District and I was schooled in Gotinyago Primary School: I used to walk to school by foot and coming back (it was a day school). I got 430 marks out of 700. I went to St. Cecilia Girls High School Misikhu. I came to Nairobi and I went to the Vision Insititute and did accounts katc intermediate and final, then CPA part one. That is when I made up my mind to start business.

I started a cybercafe business at Kenya Cinema Plaza with 10 machines. I worked hard: I did a lot of marketing by giving fliers in the streets. I got so many clients until now I have 60 machines after 5 years. (I started the business in 2009.)

My Business

Basically, I started a cybercafe to offer services, e.g. clients used to come and browse in my cyber. I also offer internet calls, e.g. Skype. I offer printing services, photocopy, scanning, binding, and lamination.

My business is very competitive because I offer highly internet services at only 50 cents per minute, while the surrounding cybers offer at $1 and slow. I have 60 machines and they are full. I give offers to my clients, e.g. when you surf more than two hours, you get a free soda.

For the loan I am going to apply for, I want to stock my cyber with accessories like flashdisks and headphones. As I repay my loan, with time, when I borrow a high amount I will also stock laptops, cameras and IT-related accessories.

Loan Proposal

For my next loan that is 50 USD, I am going to buy more keyboards, flashdisks, and memory cards for my cybercafe to resell to my customers. I am going to purchase 5 keyboards (that is 11 USD), 15 flashdisks (33 USD) and 5 memory cards (that is 11USD). I am looking forward to making double profit that is more than 100 USD.
