About Me

My names are Jospehine Amakobe, and I am a Luhya from the Western Province. I have been a farmer since I was a child, growing up with my parents in Busia District. I am also a singer in my church and I have liked singing since I was young. I grew up in the fields of the flood-prone Budalangi area, where we moved each year at the time of the floods because of perennial occurrences that caused us to hardly settle, until my parents moved from there to Busia, then I got married.

I went to primary school but did not finish nor join high school, and so I ended up getting simple tuition from a teacher who saw my potential. This enabled me to know how to read and write and even got me scholarships to study farming in a local science and technology institute. I have four children and I am heavily engaged in farming and I love my family above everything else.

My Business

I buy tomatoes at around $0.05 USD and resell the same at $0.50. I also buy 4 onion packs at $0.04 and sell these at $0.50 for each tie of 4 onions. I buy corn worth $50 per sack (I buy 4 sacks every 2 weeks) and sell each sack at $60, making a profit of $10 per sack.

My husband and I managed to buy the 1/2 acre land we live on using the money we have earned from this business. We make around $100 to $180 every two weeks in profits, and we always put aside some money towards engaging in greenhouse farming by March of next year.

Loan Proposal

I will buy tomatoes at around 0.05$ and resell the same at 0.5 $.I will buy 4 onion packs at 0.04$ and sell these at 0.50$ for each tie of 4 onions. I will buy maize/corn worth 50$ per sack,i will buy three sacks and sell each sack at 60$ ,making a profit of 10$ per sack.

Josephine, It is unfortunate that your loan has expired. It is my understanding this is because you did not confirm the loan......Do you think you will apply again?
