My name is Mrs. Soma Ouedraogo, I was born and raised in Banfora in the province of Comoe, in the Cascades region. I started primary school in 1971 and obtained from primary studies certificate from an all girls school in 1979. After receiving my primary studies certificate, I continued on to secondary school and stopped around age 12. I am now married and am a mother of 4 children, 2 girls and 2 boys, all of which completed school. My oldest son is a water and forests overseer (forest ranger). I am a woman fighting to prove that she can create her own business, making traditional sundresses.
Selling traditional wrap skirts is a very profitable business that is good for the soul. Over a course of the month, I travel to Bobo Dioulasso regularly at least 4 times to stock up on wrap skirts. I have my own stall in the new market in Banfora and that is where I sell my merchandise. My clients are mostly women and young girls. I often am able to sell on credit items to workers for sugar business Comoe Sosuco, for the Treasury department, and financial oversight group. I give them credit options that go up to 2 or 3 months and personally go at the end of each month to collect. The profits I earn allow me to help my husband pay for our children’s education. Receiving a Zidisha loan will allow me to stock up on merchandise.

Je suis Madame Ouedraogo née Soma Djeneba . Je suis née à Banfora qui est la province de la Comoe et fait partir de la région des Cascades et c’est la que j’ai grandi. J’ai commencé mon école primaire en 1971, précisément à l’école fille ou j’ai obtenu mon certificat d’étude primaire en 1979. A l’issu de ça j’ai continué mon secondaire et me suis limite en classe de cinquième précisément. Actuellement marié et mère de quatre enfants dont deux filles et deux garçons et tous scolarisés et dont l’ainé est en ce moment contrôleurs des eaux et forets. Je suis une femme battante pour preuve j’ai pu créer mon propre entreprise qui est la vente des pagnes.
La vente de pagnes est une activité bien rentable qui nourrit son homme, je me déplace régulièrement au moins 4 fois au cours du mois sur Bobo Dioulasso pour me ravitailler en prix den gros les pagnes. Jai mon propre hangar situé au nouveau marché de Banfora et c’est là que j expose pour la vente. Mes clients sont pour la plupart des femmes et les jeunes filles. Il m’arrive très souvent de vendre a crédit au fonctionnaire de la société sucrière de la Comoé SOSUCO,au trésor public, et au contrôle financier tout en proposant des facilités de remboursement allant de 2 a 3 mois donc je fais personnellement le recouvrement a chaque fin du mois . Les bénéfices que je gagne me permettent de soutenir mon mari dans la scolarisation des enfants. Bénéficier d’un prêt auprès de Zidisha me permettra de renforcer ma capacite.

I have my own shed located in the new market of Banfora and this is j exposes loincloths for marketing. My clients are mostly women and young girls. Me very often to sell to credit the employee to sugar of Comoé < SO SU CO > public Treasury, and financial control company offering facilities ranging from 2 to 3 month refund so I personally recovery at each end of the month.
