About Me

My name is Lillian Dindi, am a widow aged 46 years my home town is Busia County in Matayos constituency. I currently reside in Kisumu county with three kids all over 18 years of age. I did my education to degree level and worked as a banker before opting for early resigning and venture into my family business of rearing livestock and operating various butcheries in the town of Kisumu.

Life nowadays is very hard especially when you have children who have not yet settled well in their economic status. I have to work twice as hard to support them too. I decided to venture into livestock farming and butchery services because it was a family business and would help mostly on weekends when am off duty.

I want my children to be independent when adults and with good education they get proper paying white collar jobs but only come to help with during their holidays. independent when adults and with good education they get proper paying white collar jobs. It is now a common practice here in our country Kenya for kids to help in family tradings as office jobs are not easy to get.

One of my hobbies that I find to be unique is practicing new farming ideas that I learn online, I Google to learn new ways of doing business. This helps me with my business and makes me use less expenses because am now creative in most of the farm products and equipment by using locally found materials and other items.

My Business

I run a family butchery situated in Kisumu town and my children come in once in a while to help me when they are free. I sell different products of red and white meat and customized services e.g. red minced meat on order, fresh red meat, and fresh liver, boiled head and leg soup, fresh 3kgs chicken, fresh farm vegetables are available etc. I also offer customized services like home or hotel deliveries on order for my regular customers or any other person who may request for the same.

Red meat is on high demand since it is more cheaper than white meat. Red meat can be afforded by most of the middle and lower class customers around my area of business. I also offer vegetables which are used by most people in my area too and that is why I choose this business because the products I offer are high in demand and consumed by most people around my area.

The profits I get from my business goes a long way in helping me save some little money in the bank, I reinvest back into my business by buying more stock so that I have enough stock for my customers especially on weekends when most people are indoors and consumption is high. I also use part of my profit to pay for my bills and pay the two employees who help me. I also support my children in terms of their daily upkeep and other basic needs that they may require from me as a parent.

With this loan from Zidisha it will help me a long way in achieving my goal of buying a modernized weighing machine for the meat in my butchery. The one I have is old and keeps breaking down thus making me close the butchery every time it is out for repair.

Loan Proposal

Once am lucky to get the loan, i will go ahead and purchase a modern digital weighing scale machine to weigh meat products and vegetables for my customers at my butchery.

Currently am using an old fashioned manual weighing scale machine that keeps breaking down frequently and thus forces me to close down my butchery till it is repaired.

The modern weighing scale machine will also make my work easier and faster has its a digital machine and thus i can serve many customers at once unlike the manual one.
