About Me

I was born in the rural village of siritanyi in Bungoma county kenya in a family of 9, 4 brothers and 5 sisters. Life was not always easy and my mother taught us at an early age how to share the little that was there and the culture of saving. I started school at an early age and used to walk more than 6kms to the nearest school, st veronica siritanyi primary ,i loved school thus due to my hunger for knowledge I prospered despite the distance, fees troubles and lack of lunch and periodically other meals.
I made it to a girls boarding school in the same western province of Kenya, having lost both my parents to a car accident when i was in class 7,it motivated me to study hard which, i did and thus qualified for college education.
I took a Bsc degree in fisheries and aquaculture, but due to the congestion and lack of openings in the sector I, decided not to wallow in self pity but rather start my own Business.
I initially started chicken farming as a hobby with an initial capital of only 10usd /1000kshs i bought some 10 chicks and a tin of sukuma /kales.
Thanks to my passion and love for the venture it has grown In numbers.
Im a mother of two girls now and when they grow up they would like to be a pilot and a judge. I am a strong beliver of supporting my childrens dreams.
My homeland is unique and well known for it's famous isikuti dance and cock fights and a people who open their arms and hearts to all and chicken is a favourite delicasy

My Business

My business started out in 2013 as a hobby but with time having not been able to secure any formal employment and with advice from friends and family i decided to grow it in to a revenue generating venture. My main focus has been selling eggs and fully grown chicken which earns me between 250 to 300USD in a month though in recent times i have started hutching chicks for sale each going for between 1USD and 4USD depending on the age. My bigest expenditure is the food for the chicken which costs me on avarage abt 150USD a month while another about 80USD goes towords covering other costs around the farm. Some of the profits from my business i spend on my childrens up keep and education while the remaining trying to save to reinvest in the business.
Chicken farming has proved to be profitable due to the fact that chicken is a delicasy among the luhya community which lives in Bungoma and thus increasing the demand and creating a ready market for me.

Loan Proposal

The loan will be used for the purches of vaccines for the newly hutched chicks. This will cost 4USD. This is expected to prevent infections and increase production
