I am a Zambian business minded lady aged 23, I am a 1st born in a family of four (4). Grown up in a financial hardship situation, I couldn't finish my education , I stopped in grade nine (9), though I was very bright in class. And with nothing to do I got married at the age of 19 and I have two children both boys. Few years later after I tested family life, enjoyed marriage, all of the sudden things changed, life became unbearable, we went through financial hardship, then eventually I decided to do business - selling vegetables. Things started moving well though with a small start capital. Until I mate my friend who introduced me to Zidisha, and I didn't hesitate but immediately thought of applying for a loan from Zidisha.
You will be very interested and sympathetic to learn about our nation. I will talk about starvation in Zambia: Even with most of the people in Zambia working to grow food, they still can’t grow enough. They hoe the depleted soil without the benefit of modern equipment, irrigation, fertilizers or hybrid seeds. In Zambia in 2002, one- fourth of the population, or 2.5 million people, were on the verge of starvation. Starvation is a persistent problem, not the result of a sudden drought or famine.
During my pastime I like listening to gospel music and sometimes jogging.
Since the time I started business, I have been always doing and aspiring to do more in the area of food industry. Vegetables, especially spinach and green beans is always on high demand and finish in no time. I chose this type business because relish is a daily need, hence people will always be in need of relish on a daily basis. When it comes costs and revenue: when I buy vegetables worth $45, I will be able to make a 50% profit. Typically, a head of cabbage sales at $0.60 and a packet of green beans sales at $0.35. I use my profit to send my children to school, reinvestment in growing the business and home improvements.
If funded - I will use the loan money to buy the following products:
1. Spinach will cost me $40
2. Cabbage will cost me $50
3. Green beans will cost me $30
4. Assorted vegetables will cost me $30
5. Transport will cost me $20
