About Me

My name is maureen mwikali and am from kenya a community known as the kamba community. I am a first born in a family of three. I was born and raised in the semi arid areas of kenya and it was very difficult for us growing in such an area. I started schooling when i was in the age of five and ever since i have always been praised for my exemplary behavior
Coming from a not so rich family, my sisters and i struggled to make ends meet given that my mother was a single mum. we all worked so hard to ensure that my mum was in a position to help us all finish our studies. After school we used to work in a small farm around our home and plant vegetables and onions for domestic use whereas we could sell the surplus.
When i finished my form four exams i started looking for odd jobs to support my younger siblings. I started buying extra tomatoes and onions when i went to the market which i will sell the extra to my neighbors and get a little extra income. After sometime i opened a full market where i could go in the evenings to sell tomatoes and other food produces.
where i live people are so welcoming and they care about each other so much. when my children grow up i would love them to beauticians just like their mom. when i was young i used to swim and i loved it so much until i even competed in the Olympics but locally.

My Business

I am in the food production and selling business. I sell food produce including and not limited to, tomatoes, onions, oranges, bananas and other small food stuffs. Everybody has to eat in order for them to survive and that is why in this business my goods are always in demand and at times my goods finish up early.
i chose this business because it is the only thing i could raise enough capital to start besides it is really booming in the area where i stay. it does not require much operational costs and it only requires maintaining a good rapport with the people around you especially my customers.
On a good day when business is good i make around 300 to 500 Kshs in profits and when business is low i can manage around 250 in profits. i usually spend around 1000 Kshs buying food stuffs for sell per day. In a week i make around 3500/= in profits alone.
I use some of this profits to take my little girl by the name angel to school and as a single mu it always is not easy. we struggle a lot but all in all eventually we make and leave a mark. Some of the money is put back to the business.

Loan Proposal

I will buy shampoos and soap and other beauty products worth around 45 dollars for my salon. I will also add some 60 dollars to buy more stock for my boutique. this will go along way in ensuring that my customers are always satisfied and happy. I will also ensure that my boutique is well stocked especially during this season as we are expecting higher number of customers as it is nearing the holidays.
From this increase in sales and stock i will be expecting the profits to shoot by a great margin to like 15-20 percent. It may even be higher than that given that now the salon will be highly placed among the competitors as i will not have to turn away any customers. I will also employ one more person to help me in running the salon ask i concentrate in the boutique inventory
