About Me

I am in clothing retail and am a tailor. I am married with 4 children, aged 2,4,8, 10. I am a serious worker. I work to earn a living and help my family because my parents are retired. I am the only one who works.

My Business

My business is selling bassins (a fabric used for traditional clothing and sheets, made in Germany. We also sell the fabric with embroidered designs. Normally I buy these in Dakar, or Bamako, Mali.
With this loan I will continue to work with my tailor.
To give you an example of prices a bassin costs 35,000 FCFA (75 USD) and sells for 50,000 FCFA (110 USD)
The reason why I work with bassin is tat people prefer this fabric here in Senegal, and the clothing is worn usually during religious holidays or baptisms.
With the loan I plan on going to Bamako to buy a larger quantity and the work on them here with the tailor.
In the future I would like to open my own boutique and a store room to avoid going back and forth to Bamako.

Loan Proposal

With this loan I plan to continue buying and selling fabric. I also am thinking about expanding to sell artisan products (shoes and necklaces). I have a small workshop but I would like to expand this as well.
With the loan I plan on filling orders from schools for blouses (School uniforms). I will work with my partners in Burkina Faso, Gabon, and even hope to get to Angola. However to go to Angola I have to bring a large quantity.
The loan will help me in all these aspects- buying fabric, paying the tailor, the transport, and customs.

A des commandes lors de foires, comme par exemples des commandes de blouses pr les écoles. Dear Lenders,

My name is Michael Riley and I am one of the Client Relations Managers here in Dakar, Senegal. I am writing to you after having visited Madame Ndiaye at her home in the Yoff neighborhood outside of central Dakar last week. Madame Ndiaye, as you have been informed previously, continues to face some extreme difficulties. As previous comments indicate she continues to struggle with the merchandise that was stolen from her in the Congo while attending the big fair. She had to leave early, before selling her merchandise and left it with a friend who proceeded to sell it on credit, but the buyer then disappeared and never honored the agreement. Madame Ndiaye has attempted to open a court case but the corrupt justice system is giving her little assistance and even so the criminals are long gone. This entire ordeal has brought Madame Ndiaye’s affairs to a stand still, and she is at a loss. Her health condition has been deteriorating as she is asthmetic and struggles with high blood pressure, all on top of the miscarriage she had early this year. The costs associated with these health issues plus school fees for her children are making her life extremely difficult especially with this stall in her business. Madame Ndiaye has indicated her most sincere apologies for her inability to keep up with her Zidisha repayments and can only pray to be back on track in the future, however at the moment she continues to struggle and hopes that her lenders can understand the severity of her situation.

    Dear Lenders,

My name is Sam Gant and I'm currently the Client Relationship Manager active in Dakar. On Monday I met with Thilor to ascertain more details about her financial situation: after leaving a selection of her merchandise with a merchant at a fair in the Congo, who was supposed to finish selling off her products and bring the remainder back to Dakar, Thilor never in fact received her bags and is in the middle of judicial proceedings to either get her property returned or an equivalent cash sum. Thilor is a very competent businesswoman, having traveled as far as China to buy raw materials for her industry, and is extremely dedicated to repaying her Zidisha loan. Her business is currently stalled due to lack of capital, and soon she will log on to her profile to institute a grace period in payments until commerce has picked up again. She apologizes for the delay in communication and hopes to comment and respond to any of your questions as soon as possible.

    Greetings Zidisha,
Today your intern Maguette, with much difficulty to find my new address met with me. I am really sorry for my late payments noted in my reimbursement schedule. I had problems with a customer who took my merchandise via a friend. We were not able to find him and lost contact with him. When I went to the fair in Congo for my commerce, they pushed the date two weeks later. I could not stay there. I gave my merchandise to my friend in order to be able to go back home. She credited the merchandise to a Cameroonian merchant and lost his contact information. When I decided to travel to Congo to resolve the issue, I had a miscarriage. I am planning on starting to pay my loan next month. I would like to apologize for that long silence

Hello from Senegal's Client Relations Manager. I recently visited Thilor to give her her fully financed loan check as well as catch up with her family. You can see in the background of one of the photos they are eating Thieboudine, a Senegalese specialty. Attached are also some photos of Thilor's work...and one with her son in his favorite spider man suit.
