About Me

I am Richmond Boakye and I live in Kumasi in the Ashanti region of Ghana but stays in Accra. I am also a recent graduate from the University of Ghana, Legon and I studied Geography & Resource Development and Psychology. Zidisha did help me with my upkeep by funding my wallpaper business while in school. When I completed senior high school, I stayed home for a year before university because of certain factors with the financial barrier being one of them and I am someone who always likes to use his time wisely so I continue to challenge myself.

My enthusiasm made me used my gap year at home to learn Graphic designing which become a useful skill when I entered University. Again, my keen interest in graphics made me enter in wallpaper fixing business and it was through an interaction with my roommate that’s how I was introduced into Wallpaper Fixing business when I entered the University of Ghana. Wallpaper Fixing is similar in a way to graphic designing because both require some sense of creativity and it's also a form of arts/designs.
In the university community, most students like to make their room look cool and nice because their room tells more about who they are. Wallpapers in student rooms were the new catch which is growing in demand and as an entrepreneur, I took advantage of the market.

Although I have interest in Arts I would like to become a global business and research leader especially in the field of tourism and business development which I see as a tool to create new jobs and economic growth.

In lieu of this, I have applied to Masters in tourism studies at Mid Sweden University which they have admitted and granted me a Tuition fee scholarship. They have one of the leading tourism research centres in Europe and I would like to take advantage.

My Business

I am currently working as National service personnel at the office of Research Innovation and Development in the University of Ghana which I am being paid a monthly allowance. I also take on occasional room designing jobs.

I will be able to make payment to Zidsha through my allowance from the University of Ghana and other jobs I get along sides.

Again, if I am not able to finish with payment while in Ghana I promise to continue with payment when I start my studies in Sweden.

Loan Proposal

I will add the loan to my current profit which will be used to purchase materials
needed in the wallpaper fixing business. The Wallpapers cost $40 -50 for 2 yards depending on how the customer wants it .The profit i sometimes gets from this business helps me to support myself in school.i sometimes get a profit of $88 -$155 per service . I got a profit of $111 on my last job and used some to repay my loan and the rest of the profit after supporting myself was saved .
