About Me

My name is Tom Odhiambo Gard from Kenya. I have for the last two years engaged myself in farming after i lost my job due to retrenchment.

I mainly farm fast-growing produce including tomatoes, onions and cabbage of which i have a ready market both at the local market and supplying the same to local schools on contract.

My intention of joining Zidisha community is to enable me secure affordable loan(s) that i can use to expand my farming. Unlike now, i wish to engage in farming as a full-time business.

My Business

I started farming purely for subsistence. I however realized that i could make good money out of it after brokers started coming to my farm to buy farm produce.

It is at that point when i decided that i had to engage in farming as a business, of which i am already realizing positive results. I wish to be in a position where i do not rely on rainfall, which has become erratic. I intend to buy one or two water tanks that i will use to irrigate my farm. This will ensure constant supply of farm produce to my customers.

Loan Proposal

Dear lenders. You financed my first loan that i used to buy a 10,000-liter water tank.

I turn to you once again for another loan to buy a water pump. I have been hiring a water pump, something that eats into my profits. I would like to have my own water pump for my farming enterprise.

I am convinced that i will be able to re-pay this loan faster considering that i will no longer need to hire a water pump. I look forward to your support.

Thank you.
