My name is Deogratius Oteba, from ojamii village, Teso south sub county, Busia county western Kenya. I am the last born in a family of 9 and was raised with grandmother, after my parents passed on while I was 6yrs old. I schooled at the Ojamii primary school and later proceeded chakol secondary school where I completed my secondary Education, but missed university entry point with only three point.
I am currently I leaving with my grandmother, she has given me a small farm where I grow vegetables and sale them to get money to buy my basic needs and take care of her. The business has proven great potential should I get resource to expand it. I grow traditional African vegetables only, and the demand is very high, I always turn down many offers because I don’t have the potential to supply in large scale. Clients prefer my products because they are always fresh and clean. I have always maintained high standard of cleanness and quality so as to always be the most preferred supplier.
From my income I have been able to take care of my bills, and support my grandmother who is terminally ill.
During my free time, I always like playing basket ball and watching soccer. I love my garden and so I spend quite a lot of time working on it. My hobbies include dancing, swimming, socializing and eating.
I am a small commercial farmer, engaging in traditional African vegetables and kales. I provide fresh, and high quality vegetables to my clients.
Clients prefer my vegetables because i dont use fertilizers and therefore they are healthy and safe for consumption.
I choose this venture because it required little start up capital compared to other business.
I spend $50 as production costs each month, (buying seeds and labor) .My monthly revenue is $310 and so in a good month I make a profit of $250.
I use my money for saving to expand business and paying school fees for my siblings. I also contribute towards social welfare of the street children by providing $10 to a nearby children home.
Hello ladies and gentlemen. I wish to request for aloan to enable me buy water tank for storing water and irrigation pump for watering my vegetables. These is in line with my diversification and introduction of kales and cabbages that would require extra care. I would use $190 to buy a 10000litre capacity tank and $200 to buy money maker foot pump.
These investments will see my farm grow and stop depending on rain fed agriculture will result in high production, premium prices and increase in income.
I wish wish good health and long life. Thank you
