My names are pricilla Okasiba,I was born to the late Godfrey Okasiba and Mrs Jenepher Ekasiba. My dad was an agronomist while my my is a just a house wife. I am the third born in a family of 6 children. My dad passed on when I was in form three and since he was the sole bread winner life changed drastically. My mother struggled to educate us and i finally completed my secondary education in 2013.
I had no money to join tertiary institution since my older brothers had no job and my mom had to pay fees for my siblings using dad benefits. Our family resources were quickly shrinking and I could not just sit back and watch. I had always had passion in farming and some knowledge since I had always helped my late father in the farm. I borrowed $30 from my uncle to give to people to help me clear bushes and dig since I was little and could not do it on my own. I planted cabbages and sukuma wiki but the all dried up due to bad weather. I was so depressed and furious that my investment had just gone to waste. I gave up with farming. One evening I was send to the market to buy vegetables ,there were so expensive that i decide to buy 1/2kg beef instead. As I walked home I thought of giving farming a second but chance but these time round armed with irrigation kit, I once again planted kales ,the business did so well.I got enough money to buy farm tools as well as clear my sisters fees in school.
I am a teso girl teso is a good place and rich in culture. We have special traditional dances for different occasions.
I love reading novels, watching television and walking around my garden when free.
My farming business provides assorted vegetables to the community.Among the kale's,cabbages and capsicum. I recently also invested in long term mango project ,I planted 100 seedlings that should start fruiting in the next 2 years.
vegetables are vital food here ,they are cheaper and source of valuable nutrients. since the production is low and the depend is high there is always ready market.
I choose the farming business because I had alot of knowledge about farming and I had passion for farming too.
I spend $150 on farm labor ,tools and equipment maintenance and transportation to the market.my monthly revenues is $350. I use the money to save for my univesity fees, save for reinvestment and take care of my mother.
Dear lenders, I am happy for an opportunity to borrow from zidisha lenders. Its is a golden opportunity for my business. I am requesting for my first loan of $100 to help me buy 5000L tank for my farm. The tank will cost me $120. I will add the $55 to the $65 i will get to buy the tank. The tank will be very useful in my business as it will help me store water at the far end of the farm and make irrigation easier. these will increase efficiency and general performance of the farm.Thank you in advance.
