About Me

my name is James Mwangi. I cleared my high school at Nairobi. Later, I joined an agricultural-based college at Laikipia. Up to now, I'm still working while studying part-time in the same college.

I love singing, and I spend most of my time in the church learning how to sing, and especially teaching my students how to sing. I love my country Kenya, most possibly because of the green I'm able to view around whenever I'm walking. This is a place that has seen the birth and growth of young business farmers who've risen to become successful entrepreneurs within a very short span of time. I ventured into my business immediately after high school, with the support of my very close dad. Until now, I treasure the lots he did for me, and is still doing for me. Currently, my dad is also a farmer, and also loves traveling, so few are the times we are with him. Mostly, we talk over the phone, and I'm contented with that.

My Business

One of the fruits that is literally flying off the shelves during the dry spell being currently being experienced across the country is watermelon.
The weather makes people thirsty all the time and those who want to live healthy are opting for watermelon instead of soft drinks."
i spends about Sh12,000 to purchase the fruits from the source in Baringo and Sh6,000 on fuel to deliver the fruits to my base nakuru and nairobi.
After the fruits reach nakuru and nairobi, I use an old pick-up truck, a van and station wagon to distribute and sell the fruits at various locations within town."
I sell a 2kg watermelon for Sh60, 3kg (Sh100), 4kg (Sh200) and 5kg (Sh300). i also have bigger and heavier watermelons, which i sell for upwards of Sh500. I also sell slices of the fruit for Sh20.
customers buy all the melons within a week and I often have to make three trips in a month to purchase more. At the end of it all, i make a profit of Sh40,000
i use my profits to expand my business and to pay school fees for my kid
