About Me

My name is Patrick Mahinge, and I am a freelance journalist and writer who also happens to be a webpreneur. I believe that the internet is packed with vast resources that almost equalize the chances of a person in Kenya with the one in the more developed world.

My life changed the moment I realized that I could use the internet to change my world, my destiny and the world of those around me. I run several blogs including one that I call blogscheme and that can be found here http://www.blogscheme.com/.

My dream is to tap into the infinite potential offered by the internet in an honest and feasible way, and to teach others how to do the same. Being a young person, I would particularly love to start empowering the youth in my locality to make use of the internet to change their world.

My Business

Most of my income comes from freelance writing. I am an active freelance writer in Elance and I am able to cash in more than $650 per month. I have also started working in oDesk and I am absolutely loving the experience.
I also write and sell ebooks on Kindle and the income from this venture has so far been a constant $100 per month.
From the above income sources, I can manage to repay the loan accorded to me in time and in totality.
I am also employed by an organization in Maungu called Wildlife Works. My job as a media and communications officer gives me an extra boost of $250.

I also earn about $50 per month from my blog through the referral programs that I have joined.

Loan Proposal

First, I would like to thank all Zidisha lenders who made my first loan a reality and the whole Zidisha fraternity for allowing us access to flexible loans. I used my first loan to buy a few Kienyeji chicken after my idea of setting up an agribusiness center in Maungu backfired due to scarcity of water.

With my second loan application of USD 200 I intend to expand my online business since I have seen that it has stood the test of time and it continues to bring in numerous returns every time. On a good month, I make $600 from freelance writing. $100 from affiliate marketing and $100 from the sale of Kindle ebooks.

I have been posting my progress with webpreneurship in my blog and social media accounts and a lot of people have shown interest in learning.

I now want to expand my online business and start offering online courses to Kenyans who have really shown a desire for making money online. To do this, I will need to buy a premium email marketing software (Aweber at $29.00 per month), I will also need to have the material I have prepared for the ecourse edited (approximately $50). The other amount will go into redesigning my blog to accommodate the tutorial functionality and marketing the e-course, mostly through Facebook ads and Google Adwords.

I strongly believe that the future of business, and the only way to curb the high unemployment rates presently being witnessed in my country is through seizing the numerous work and business opportunities that the internet has to offer.

I will be charging $15 for every student willing to join the course. I expect to have at least 20 students within the first month of launching the online classes. This will total to $300. The idea is therefore very viable, and apart from being viable, I believe that I will be sharing very valuable and life changing information with Kenyans who are ready and eager to learn.
Thanks in advance,
Patrick.
