My name is Rita Daniels. I am a graduate of Takoradi Polytechnic with an HND in secretaryship and management. I am the eldest of five children. I live in Takoradi with two other siblings who I take care of. Our parents live in the northern part of Ghana and they are farmers. Currently, I have completed my course at the polytechnic and I am also done with my national service but I am not employed yet. One thing that helped me to pay for my tuition whiles at school and still helps me cater for my siblings and parents is photography. I learnt photography from a friend who is a professional and has a studio in town.
I run a photography business. I have lots of friends and colleagues my age who are getting married so I get a lot of wedding gigs. I also get party and funeral gigs. I am very good at photography although I did not learn it at school. It is a natural talent. I rent a camera from my friends’ studio for GH50.00 a day and per every two hour programme I make between GH150 and GH250. Sometimes within a weekend I can get two programmes. So within a month, I can make within GH600 and GH1000. If I take out cost of renting the camera and my transportation which is like GH450 I make a profit of GH200 and GH300 a month. This money helps me to take care of my siblings in school and also take care of my parents in the north. I also save some of the money to be able to purchase a camera of my own and to go back to school in the near future. A good camera can cost between GH1200 and GH1500.
When I am given this loan, I will add it to the amount I have saved to purchase a cheaper camera for the mean time so I do not rent a camera again. So that everything I earn from subsequent gigs will be saved towards purchasing a better camera. i have enough gigs every week, and this will help me pay off the loan given me without problem. Thank you so much.
