About Me

My name is Paul Toka Akhabele. I am in branding business incorporating signage and screen printing. My business is in Teak House, Kirinyaga Road, Nairobi Kenya. I have been in the business for the last four years.

I have ambitions to scale up the business to middle level.

I was born from peasant parents. My father having been a small trader in Luanda market while my mother having worked as house help. It is from their humble struggles that they afforded to educated me upto form 4. Sometimes during my secondary schooling, I had to take small jobs at a local bakery to supplement school fees and buying books. In the end, I sat for O'level in 1987 and attained second division. That is the far my parents could take me.

Without college training I embarked on doing manual jobs in Nairobi while I study in the evening. Through this kind of arrangement, I did computer science diploma, photography diploma and creative writing. I later got a job in a bank where I joined as a computer operator and later rose to assistant manager before I was retrenched.

I thereafter embarked to doing my own jobs in Nairobi. I have been through freelancing in sales, journalism, and now branding.

My Business

I was born from a modest family but schooled with hardship.

Being the eldest In the family of 6 I was forced to take care of my siblings after death of my father.

I have worked in various industries ending with work in a local bank where I rose to assistant manager.

When I was retrenched in 2005 I took that time to try and venture into business. I have done so many other businesses which ended up failing.

My income source is basically from proceeds of the business. The capital was obtained from savings from my former employment.

I was granted an initial KES. 1,525 which I have repaid. This amount enabled my buy screen printing paint for our branding business.

I am now applying for KES 4013 which I want to apply toward working capital to enable me increase raw materials.

Repayment will be from the proceeds of business.

Loan Proposal

I need to buy paints and inks. Later I want to stock Tshirts and cups for branding. I will use the money to buy ink at 250 per quarter.

I have today made my final instalment of KES 125/- albeit ahead of scheduled time.

I am happy that the KES 1525 I received enabled me buy paints that made me engage my clients effectively.

I can say, from computation and based on the work I undertook, it made my working capital grow by an extra KES 3K and above all making me not go for unconventional borrowing from the backstreet.

I am happy Zidisha is solving our problem.

I must thank my funders for believing in me.

I have repaid my last loan. However little, I bought paint and it helped a great deal.

This facility is really handy. Thanks you for believing in me.
