About Me

My name is Adwoa Serwaa, a self-employed person in the Berekum community. I am in a family of three and I am the second born among my siblings. I started in a humble beginning, because my mum and dad were living in harmony until the time that my father, whose name is Mr. Osei, decided to have another wife [in addition] to my mother. This lady set our family apart because all my father's attention was drawn to that lady. Because of that, I completed school prematurely and I did not even complete basic education.

I stayed with my mother till I reached eighteen years of age. I saw that I was growing old, so I followed a friend who is a hairdresser and learnt this job. I stayed with her for about three years before I left. Thank God that I am now operating my own business with the help of this friend of mine.

My Business

Serwaa Hairdressing deals in perming of hair, plating of hair and other things. I have some apprentice that I am training because a friend trained me and I am now doing some work for a living. Now my mum is depending on me and some of my siblings too. My aim is to help my neighbors and other [people] to learn my job. Within a week, I earn about 100 dollars. I use some of this to purchase some perming cream and some tools useful in the job. I use some to feed my family and give some to my workers each day as they work.

Loan Proposal

When my loan is funded, I will buy some cosmetics to be used at the workplace and buy a hairdryer to help in the business. The hair dryer will cost about 80 dollars and the remains will be used to expand the business. I will use the profit that I gain from the work to pay the the loan as agreed. I will use the remains of the proceeds to buy additional cosmetics and use some to feed my family, as well as my apprentice and my neighbors.
