About Me

My name is Bernard Omondi Onyango. I have 4 brothers and 1 sister. The lady is currently sitting her high school final exam. My family and I live in Embakasi, Nairobi.

I went to Kagwa Primary School in Rarieda District. I passed and joined Makasembo High School. Consequently, I joined Intraglobal Training Institute in Nairobi. After college, I worked in as a volunteer teacher. I then started writing on a freelance basis when I could not secure a job. I bought my first laptop using my first loan from Zidisha. After article writing for some time, I took another loan and used it to buy 6 more computers for writers. I then trained and employed more writers. This worked well initially but when I discovered I could not retain writers for long due to competition even after training them, I used the computers to open a cybercafe. I want to invest more in the same business.

I also support different members of my community from my pocket. We also learn God's word every week in my house to inspire our members to look forward to a better future and work hard. In addition, I send them inspirational messages via my phone on a daily basis. People need hope to be able to transform into productive people in the spiritual and physical world.

My Business

My main business currently is offering cybercafe services. I started with the loan I took from Zidisha last year. Initially, I was writing articles online. I then accidentally learned that I can make more money in this new business. I have 6 Computers today and want to buy 10 more computers.

I will use the profits to grow the business, take care of my children's education, and support various community programs geared towards supporting the needy. I will be able to support and employ some of them.

Loan Proposal

I will buy a laptop so that I can train and employ a professional writer to help me do some of the work at home. The laptop costs $360.

I used the last loan to buy a backup battery, and I have realized the potential of the business. I currently make a net profit of approximately $80 per week, which I use to meet my bills and ensure the business remains productive. The income is steady, so I plan to use part of it to repay this loan.

I also look forward to make more profits after training the writer. I will advertise the position on Facebook and other social media sites. Experience shows that it is easily to get the right candidates on Facebook within one two two days.

Additionally, since the training is intended just to supplement the already acquired formal training, I will use few resources: 2 hours per day for 4 days on Skype and Google Chat.

I expect to make more money out of this arrangement and impact the life of the writer, who will be able to operate independently in future if he or she shows commitments in the work.
I kindly request for your financial support, and I will pay back in time. Thank you.

Hello friend, I am sorry that I let my lenders down. you financed my project. thank you very much for the kind gesture. May God bless you. I didn't honor my end of the bargain since my business failed and I lost everything. i would appreciate if you forgive me the loan. if not, we can wait for a little while. i am currently serving another defaulted loan that puts me at a great risk. kindly consider waiving your loan. if you do so, i will appreciate a lot. thanks.

Hello lenders, i have a problem with repayment. i also have a problem with Zidisha. The company deducted a lot of money as credit risk for this loan and a previous loan, and they have told me none of these is refundable. i need a clarification because they charged 109 USD for this loan alone and credit risk ad another 5 percent. i think this is too high cost for a loan

Once again thank you for the loan. I have already invested the money and I am looking forward to great success. I have reduced the weekly installment for business reasons. I will increase it soon. I want to repay the entire loan in under 4-to-5 months.

I received a small amount, and I have already repaid about half of it in a single instalment. I want the balance to remain in my stock for at least a month. Thank you.

I have received the loan. This time I was not able to raise the amount I wanted may due to my current low credit rating. I have, however, chosen to accept the amount raised, which is approximately 150 USD. After security fund and interest deductions, I have received about 80 USD. This amount is too small to help me get the equipment, but I thank you because I will help me to finance some important operations of my business. I intended to pay this loan promptly to boost my credit score. However, I may reschedule the repayment since as you can see the amount is a small fraction of the total amount raised. In all, I am glad you have funded me. Thank you for the support.

Past loans from Zidisha have helped me to start from buying a single laptop for writing to owning a cyber cafe from where I write and offer services to the community and make money. I thank Zidisha lenders for the support. Kindly support me again. I consider this loan very essential to my business yet it just a few days to expire. I promise to pay 100 percent on time this time around. Thank you in advance.

Happy New Year Mr. Bernard Onyango. I am posting on your wall because you are Alfayo's Mentor. I know Alfayo well and in fact his business is just a few meters from mine.
I would like you to mediate here, you know I am the one who introduced Alfayo to Zidisha because he was well known to me and on top of that he is the Treasurer in his church.
There was a time when his father was sick and his business took a beating because he was the one who was taking care of his sick father. But since around June 2017 he has been doing fine and I do not find any reason why he can not repay the loan. I request to talk to Zidisha about CRB, if Zidisha could at least list those members who fail to repay their loans without concrete reasons with Credit Referencing Bureaus, people like Alfayo will be forced to repay the loans they took from Zidisha before they can borrow from other institutions. I have information that he has neglected the Zidisha loan but is repaying a loan that he took from another lender because the lender can easily take him to CRB if he fails to repay his loan (mark you, he took this loan around August 2017)
One more reasons why I think he is taking Zidisha for granted is when he claims that he paid Zidisha but his payment was not credited- why is it that he was unable to forward his Mpesa statement for prove of payment?
Anyway I don't want to whine but it is wrong for a person you know and trust to betray your trust and disregard your pleas and advice- by this I mean that he chose not to communicate with lenders & review his repayment installments downwards to an amount he can afford even after taking time to talk to him together with his pastor whom he provided as a reference

Eliud I know about this case, and I had been following it up for some time. I stopped calling him when I was removed from being his mentor.

Thank you Zidisha lenders for the support. I have been able to start a successful cybercafe because of your support. I started from a very humble background at a time I didn't know I could venture into the business and be successful. I made the bold step and despite the many challenges I faced during the initial stages, the business is now stable. I request your support once again to buy more computers. Thank you.
