About Me

My name is Esther. I was born in Nakuru county in the Rift Valley region of Kenya. I was born in a farming community where the main activity was and still is food production. I grew up in this area and went to school up to secondary school and thereafter joined a secretarial college where I did a course in secretarial duties.

Due to lack of formal jobs, I moved to Mombasa to live with my relatives. These relatives were running a business of selling movies and music and I would go to to the shop to give a helping hand.

This is where I learned crucial lessons of how the business is done. I requested my parents back home to support me to start a similar project and they obliged. With their support, I opened a stall where I sell movies and different types of music.

My Business

I deal with buying and selling of movies and music. I sell all types of movies and educational videos. I source my stock from Nairobi where there are big stores for movies.

The most popular ones are action movies and popular series. Educational videos are also on demand and my main clients for these are students and teachers. I also sell all genres of music. The business is quite challenging because one to keep tabs with what is trending and understand the tastes of different people.

All in all, I find the business very fulfilling because it gives me some income and also allows me to know what people prefer to watch

Loan Proposal

In the course of doing my business, I decided to try my hand in educational videos. I contacted a few schools and they liked the idea of using video as a teaching aid. I started with subjects like English Literature and mathematics. This has been received very well and I have many orders from neighboring schools and I believe I have found a niche for my business.

I would like to cover as many subjects as possible and that is the main reason that I have applied for this second loan. With this money, I will be able to buy about forty DVDs with education material for secondary schools. This will cost me about USD 200 and I am hoping to make a profit of 30% from this stock. Given my experience, this project is viable and I am asking for your support to make it a reality. Thank you very much and kingly consider funding my loan.
