About Me

I am a father of five children, only one in high school, the rest have completed their education. live in kiptangwanyi about 100 meters from kiptangwanyi trading center, my occupation is farming (cattle rearing) also I am father in charge in orthodox church of Kenya, have completed my high school education also I have completed my bible study.
I started a business of farming a business of farming after having an education day of farming funded by Brookside Company, by the end of the day they promise us to be buying our milk, they also tell us to crossbreed the indigenous cattle by dairy breed which are highly productive in milk. I am expecting to purchase one more chuff cutter also I will purchase five more diary cattle

My Business

My business is farming
My business includes diary cattle farming. They is a lot of demand of the product such as milk, because the milk is taken by the Brookside company dairy.
Most of the farmer in kiptangwanyi have not yet crossbreed their cattle thus making me being the most of the few one who will produce much milk. The business will be profitable because most of the feed a get from my farm. The risk facing the business is poor road during the rainy season which hinders the transportation of the milk.
My typical monthly cost is khs 50000, sale revenue is around ksh 25000 and profit is above 20000 but I am planning to earning more.

Loan Proposal

Am grateful to you lenders for another chance to get a loan from this organization. I hope you had a merry Christmas full of blessings. I wish to use this loan that I will get from the organization to buy some new machinery useful for my farming practices. Firstly I wish to purchase a grass chopper. This machine is good for cutting fodder for my dairy cattle. Secondly, I wish to purchase another dairy cattle. This will boost my milk supply.

    Dear lenders,
I hope you are all doing well.I am doing well too. Things have been moving from worse to worst here. I have not been in a good financial position to send my monthly repayments. The drought has really affected the business and we have not been able to recover from the losses we are undergoing in the farms. This is because my business is 100% rainfall dependent

I've read from other borrowers that the rains have begun - I hope that your farm will come back to life now.

    Dear lenders,
I hope you are fine and doing great with the welcoming of a blessed new year 2015. I am fine and doing great. The new year brings hope and we are positive that things will change for the best. The situation from the drought of the past year has not improved and the business is not doing well. I am however positive that things will change and improve for the best.

    dear lenders.
I would like to reduce my repayment installments. this is due to the status in which the business is at the moment. the income from the business has declined and therefore am unable to raise the current installment. i am however positive that things will improve with time. the decline has been much attributed by the persistent drought in most parts of the country and this has made business to become difficult.

Thank-you for making a repayment on July 1st, despite the way that the drought is acting on your business. Are your cattle doing alright in the drought? I hope you are still able to find enough food for them. Wishing you and your family continued good health.

    dear lenders
My business has not been doing well and thus I wish to request to reschedule my loan for some time. I am therefore requesting that I repay in the coming repayment. The customers purchasing power has reduced due to the unexpected dry season that we are experiencing here. We were expecting rainfall in the months of April and May but the rains have failed thus affecting the business negatively.

Hello Mr. Karanja, thank-you for your message, for explaining the reason you need to change your repayment plan. It is bad luck that the rains have not come. Perhaps they will arrive late, in June? Good luck and take care.

    Dear Lenders,
I wish to reschedule my loan. This is because I got sick for the past two weeks. I was admitted in hospital for three days and was later released from hospital. I have been taking medication at home and I am improving well. I have therefore been in a position to repay my weekly installments but I am hoping to resume the repayment once I get better.

I wish to be repaying my loan with an amount of 2500ksh per month. Wishing you well in your endeavors.

    Dear Simon

I am interested in participating in your loan but I have a question about your business performance. You state:

"My typical monthly cost is khs 50000, sale revenue is around ksh 25000 and profit is above 20000 but I am planning to earning more."

This is the formula that I usually see, Revenue - Cost = Profit

But your numbers don't seem to work in this model. Would you please restate the performance of your current business stating

Revenue: (total monies earned by you in the period)
Cost of Sale: (total costs associated with sale in period)
Overhead Costs: (any running costs that would exist whether you sell or not)

    Profit : (Revenue - CoS - O/H)

Whilst it is very useful to see this as your best guess it would be valuable to see the actual performance of your farm for the calendar year 2013 and 2012 (if possible) and then an expression of you hope for 2014 with the addition of the loan.

Please feel free to contact me directly if you would like to discuss my question in more detail.

    Kind regards

    James

Thank you lenders and Zidisha team for the good work that you have been doing and you are still doing. My business has improved as many farmers have now started harvesting beans. This has improved the purchasing power of most of my customers and thus my revenues have increased. This is why I would like to clear all my outstanding loan at this moment. Thank you.
