I am Patrick. I am a barber and I do my work in the coastal city of Mombasa. I am married and my wife works in a local hotel.
I was born in a place called Kirinyaga on the slopes of mount Kenya. This a place with a great agriculture potential and naturally my parents are farmers. I spent my early years helping them with field work such as weeding and harvesting of crops.
I went to primary and secondary school and then relocated to Mombasa where I learned how to shave different styles. I was able to open my own business and I am glad I have kept the business going for the last 5 years.
I charge a fee for shaving my clients. The charges range from USD 1 for children to USD3 for male adults and USD 4 for female adults. I am able to attend between 8 - 10 clients per day and this gives me an average income of about USD 25 per day.
I use this income to pay rent and other business expenses. I use the balance to support my family and when I do send some money to my parents when the business is booming.
I hope to buy better equipment in future to increase my efficiency and that is why I have joined Zidisha for credit.
I will buy shaving lotions, anti-septic and soap to be used in my barber shop. These are the consumables that I use in my business when doing my work. I will be able to buy them in bulk and therefore save some money because I will get a good discount for buying them in large quantities.
It will also be convenient to me because I wont have to be buying them every time they run out. Therefore I will save time as well and increase my productivity. Thanks.
