I was born, raised, and schooled in Busia County by my grandmother because I was born when my mother was in high school. And when I was 7 years old, my mother died of AIDs and I was left with my grandmother, and my uncles are the ones who paid my fees. Growing up an orphan is the worst life in this world. Luckily enough, I have a certificate in Agricultural Production. I decided to venture into agriculture after college in Muhoroni, where I currently stay. My dream for the future is to have a tractor and a maize sheller for my farm, and to help other farmers, too.
I plant watermelon, maize and other vegetables, tomatoes, beans, and I also do some poultry farming. After college, I was not able to find a job, so I decided to start farming because I had the skills to earn a living doing this. Farming is good, but we have many challenges. The main one is lack of enough capital to get machinery and farming input (seeds, fertilizer, etc.). I want to have my own tractor and a maize sheller. I make profits of between $170-$220 per month. I use the profits to expand my farming business, and the rest I use to cater for my family needs.
Together with my savings I will use the loan ksh 2500 i am going to buy watermelon seeds, ksh 5000 to buy fertilizer and ksh ksh 2500 to buy layer mash.Watermelon is productive here and with enough fertilizer and best seed i will have high yield and hence get profit.Layars will help me to repay the loan by selling eggs.I believe with enough profit my life will be impacted positively by this loan.
