My name is michael, married and a father of 4 kids. I come from a place called Nguku in Muranga county. I was born in a family of nine whereby I was the first born. My parents practiced farming which is small scale farming. We had coffee as a cash crop but it then lost value which made life so hard for our family. The land was so small and therefore the life was from hand to mouth. All in all we were able to get some formal education upto form four and that was it. That is when i decided I will continue with the small scale farming for a living . I do vegetable farming in the small inheritance farm, rear some kienyeji chicken and have two cows for dairy farming. I would wish that my life changes for the better and my kids get better education than myself
I do small scale farming dealing with vegetables, chicken and dairy farming in a small farm. On the farm I have a well in support of a seasonal river which helps me in doing irrigation on my vegetables and offer water for my animals. The vegetables I sell to the market during market days. This brings me an average of 2 dollars per day. I also sell eggs from my chicken an average of 1 dollar per day. The milk I get from the cows sells at an average of 3 dollars per day.Apart from the income the farm assists me in feeding my family and assist my aging parents.
I want to buy spinach, kales, dhania, carrots and tomatoes seedlings. I wish to lays some seedbeds for the vegetables whereby some I will add to my farm while others i resell to some neaby farmers. Some like carrots and dhania sell very well and need to be availble all the time. I am hoping to increase my sales by 15per cent which I know in future I will be able to expand my farm and maybe buy a bycycle to assist me in disributing my output to the market
