My story begins in small village called Kangalu, where I grew up. I was raised in a family of eleven, being the second born. Kangalu village is a small village within Kitui County that lacks virtually all the basic amenities. My childhood was marked by lack, just like a majority of Kenyan. With the large family, we would go to bed hungry, but fed lice and bedbugs to their full. However, my situation, and that of our entire family inspired me to work hard. I scored I 489/700 marks in KCPE and proceeded to Kitui high school where I did excellent marks (B+), and later joined Kenyatta University to pursue B. Comm. I graduated with honours after a long struggle because of poor financing.
After graduation, I ventured into business because this is where I believe my future is tied to. I am a forward thinking individual who has the drive, ambition and ability, all of which are traits that are vital for effective business management. I possess strong team-working skills, am able to work individually or as part of a group, and have excellent organizational skills that I have gained through my academic and work experience. I consider my key strengths to be; an ability to make analytical judgments, people management, making decisions, assessing business situations and identifying important points. I have excellent interpersonal skills which allow me to relay business information clearly to my target audience, and can prepare well thought out, crisp presentations for both individuals and groups.
I have applied for a Master’s degree at Kenyatta University, and I expect to join later this year. My passion for education is based on my desire for personal development as well as career progression. I am looking further to enhance my skills in understanding the nature, power, as well as the limitation of various approaches to business in order to enhance and improve my businesses.
I have several businesses in my area, but I need extra funding to boost my earnings potential. One of the businesses that require extra funding is my cyber café, located outside Kenyatta University. The growing number of students as well as residents within Kiwanja area has seen the demand for computer services double in the last one year. With the proposed opening of the referral hospital within the same locality as well as the growing student population, the need for computer services is expected to outstrip the current supply.
Currently, after paying myself and meeting other costs, I am left with at least $300, which I use to meet family expenses and cost of education for my children. However, with more computers, it is possible to double my earnings, and therefore, achieve my short-term as well as long term obligations. In addition, extra services are also required such as lamination, photography, and binding, which are limited in my cyber.
.
My last loan was a success. I now need to add an extra computer to expand my business. I have purchased 2 TFT monitors already from the last loan, at a cost of KHS 11,000. What I now require is some funds to buy two extra computers for my growing business. A new computer goes for around KSH5,000. Therefore, a loan of khs10,000 would be sufficient to help me achieve my objective. I look forward to good business in the next 8 months of the year. In addition, I promise to increase my repayment rate to 100%.
