About Me

My story begins in small village called Kangalu, where I grew up. I was raised in a family of eleven, being the second born. Kangalu village is a small village within Kitui County that lacks virtually all the basic amenities. My childhood was marked by lack, just like a majority of Kenyan. With the large family, we would go to bed hungry, but fed lice and bedbugs to their full. However, my situation, and that of our entire family inspired me to work hard. I scored I 489/700 marks in KCPE and proceeded to Kitui high school where I did excellent marks (B+), and later joined Kenyatta University to pursue B. Comm. I graduated with honours after a long struggle because of poor financing.
After graduation, I ventured into business because this is where I believe my future is tied to. I am a forward thinking individual who has the drive, ambition and ability, all of which are traits that are vital for effective business management. I possess strong team-working skills, am able to work individually or as part of a group, and have excellent organizational skills that I have gained through my academic and work experience. I consider my key strengths to be; an ability to make analytical judgments, people management, making decisions, assessing business situations and identifying important points. I have excellent interpersonal skills which allow me to relay business information clearly to my target audience, and can prepare well thought out, crisp presentations for both individuals and groups.
I have applied for a Master’s degree at Kenyatta University, and I expect to join later this year. My passion for education is based on my desire for personal development as well as career progression. I am looking further to enhance my skills in understanding the nature, power, as well as the limitation of various approaches to business in order to enhance and improve my businesses.

My Business

I have several businesses in my area, but I need extra funding to boost my earnings potential. One of the businesses that require extra funding is my cyber café, located outside Kenyatta University. The growing number of students as well as residents within Kiwanja area has seen the demand for computer services double in the last one year. With the proposed opening of the referral hospital within the same locality as well as the growing student population, the need for computer services is expected to outstrip the current supply.
Currently, after paying myself and meeting other costs, I am left with at least $300, which I use to meet family expenses and cost of education for my children. However, with more computers, it is possible to double my earnings, and therefore, achieve my short-term as well as long term obligations. In addition, extra services are also required such as lamination, photography, and binding, which are limited in my cyber.
.

Loan Proposal

My last loan was a success. I now need to add an extra computer to expand my business. I have purchased 2 TFT monitors already from the last loan, at a cost of KHS 11,000. What I now require is some funds to buy two extra computers for my growing business. A new computer goes for around KSH5,000. Therefore, a loan of khs10,000 would be sufficient to help me achieve my objective. I look forward to good business in the next 8 months of the year. In addition, I promise to increase my repayment rate to 100%.
Thank you

This is to inform you that you can change your repayment installments to an amount you can afford. As I have already informed you through our phone conversation, you have to repay the loan amount in full in order to access further loans. Thank you and kindly do as we had agreed over the phone.

Dear Lenders, I have tried all recommended avenues to Mr. John to repay the loan he took from you but he has not honuored his pledges to repay the money even after several visits with some of his referees. If there is any other legal means we can use to recover this money I am ready to push it through. Thanks

Happy New Year Mr. John Mwanzui! I am disturbed by the way you have handled the loan you took from Zidisha. You stopped repaying the loan without a good reason and even after we talked to you sometimes last year and you promised to repay the loan you have failed to do so, as a man of God and a Church elder you are expected to keep promises without fail, and in case you fail to honor the promises you give reasons.

Thank you Sir, for the effort but please make it continuous. I have noted that your last loan repayment installment was made on July, 2017.

Hi, all lenders, I have met and discussed with Mr John Mwanzui on several occasions about his loan repayment. he has not given me a tangible reason as to why he has not been servicing his loan. About a fortnight ago he promised to restart repaying this month-May 2017- but up to today 27th May 2017, he has not even logged into his account to tell you about his progress. I am working on getting him to repay this loan. Thank you

Hi, I take this opportunity to remind you again to kindly repay your current Zidisha loan balance. After going through your profile I have noted with concern that you are more than 40% past due. I have met with you many times and even emailed you instructions on how to reschedule your loan repayments. On other occasions I have called you concerning your lateness in repaying your loan but you have always promised to repay the outstanding amount as soon as possible, well you are not doing enough in your efforts to clear the outstanding loan balance.
Zidisha thrives on communication and trust without which it will disintegrate because our lenders will not be willing to lend their money to members who are not communicating and are not repaying the loans. When Zidisha provides you with a loan facility, it means they trust you and when you fall behind in repayment and you don’t provide adequate explanation, it might be construed mean that you are untrustworthy.
Kindly pay the loan balance so that other people who are willing and ready to join Zidisha can be invited through my Zidisha account. Thanks in advance

I do not have words to express my gratitude for funding my new project. It is a big boost to my business, as you will surely come to find as I continue repaying the loan. I will go ahead and buy the computers, which will greatly support the growth my business. It is only a matter of time, before I change my tune and start talking about my business empire. Thank you so much, indeed.

It was a wonderful experience to source for a loan online, repay, and enjoy the fruits of success for my business. Indeed, I have gained extra skills in dealing with different stakeholders, including lenders. My business has improved, and I am sure a further funding will be critical in increasing volume for my business. My experience will go a long way into improving my relationship with lenders in the future.
