About Me

I am the second born in a family of three children, I went to asinge orimary school and mambele secondary school and eldoret polytechnic, but dropped out of the polytechnic due to lack of fees. When I come back home life was very difficult,I did some manual jobs as a farm hand in the neighbors farm ,the neighbor, used to pay ,me with chicken instead of money. At first I could sell the chicken immediately to get money but one day when I lacked the market ,i decide to keep the three chicken I had, they soon started laying eggs and after brooding with 12 eggs each,I now had 39 chicken,3 hens and 36 chicks,I continued doing manual jobs to get money to feed them.I now have 300 birds and still growing.
I have no kids at the moment ,but I have plans of settling down once my business is well for I do not want to start a family without enough money to cater for our expenses.
my hobbies include watching football, playing football and agri-tours.

My Business

I am a small scale poultry keeper with 306 chicken. I sell eggs and cocks to my clients.
the demand for the good is high because eggs are cheap while chicken provide white meat which most consumers prefer to red meat.
I started these business without actually knowing I was in business but I still do it because of high profits .
my monthly typical costs are $300 per month ,that i spend on feeds, vaccination, lighting and labor and my monthly income is $500 per month. I make an average$200 -$250 in profits.
I use the money to save for business expansion, help buy food for my family and help in paying fees for my niece, whose dad is ill.

Loan Proposal

Hello lenders, inbreeding has always caused me a lot of losses including high chicks mortality rate as well as weak chicken with studded growth,an expert advised me to always dispose off all cockerels . I am now appealing to you to finance me so that I can buy improved cocks from different farms for breeding. a cock for breeding goes for$20 each and I would use the $60 I would receive to buy three cocks.Thank you in advance.

    Hey Kenneth,
as one of your lenders I'm very interested in how your view on this whole microfinance thing is. I'm a 17 year old student from Germany and I'm currently writing an essy about microfinance in developing countries. So I'd like to ask you some questions, if you're ok with that!

My questions(Feel free to choose which questions you answer) :
        - Why did you choose Zidisha( were there any alternatives?) How did you find Zidisha?
        - Is there somebody who gives you advises on how to spend your money the best?
        - What are your aims in the near future?
        - How is the current Situation? (Did you already buy the 20 hens?)

        and

        - Do you see a chance in microfinance?
        - Do maybe also see a risk in microfinance?

        Best regards

        Luis
