About Me

I am a first born in a family of three. At the age of five, my parents handed me over to my dad's twin brother whose wife could not not bear him any children. My life was sweet until my uncle decided to remarry six years later. Life became so miserable, I went to school hungry, slept hungry, dropped in performance and finally got withdrawn. I managed, however, to sit for my KCPE and got good grades to proceed to secondary school and later to college. However this experience gave me a sense of independence. Today, together with two other friends, we have embarked on assisting kids with special needs in my home village primary school. I feel this is one way of giving back to the community.

I am married and a mother of two kids, one a sixteen year old girl who aspires to be a marine pilot. She is in form four. I pray for her dream to come true. My seven year old son is still young to fully know what he would like to be, but he has a liking of what his dad does in the construction industry.

My Business

After a stint in employment, I decided to have a hand in business. I started with a welding workshop but it being male dominated and with no prior knowledge, it became very challenging. I therefore decided to open up a business in which I would have full control and therefore I opened a boutique five years ago.

I deal with ladies' and children's wear as this does well all season. Women are impulse buyers, and will always squeeze a coin when they see something they feel is pleasing to them. Women, too, like to shop for their kids. Kids outgrow their clothes fast, hence they need to replenish their wears.

My main costs are on stock, rent, licences, electricity and transport. However, the sales are enough to sustain the expenses, replenish stock and do some savings that have seen me improve on my house and save some money for any eventualities. Luckily, my husband too supports me in some projects so I don't have to over-commit my business.

Loan Proposal

If advanced this loan I intend to by a desktop computer for my business records worth 15000sh.(150$) I also want to add on my stock for kids wear worth 16000sh(160$). This is very crucial as we are headed for the festivities when the clothing line is very profitable. In January I hope to buy kids (13) school uniform. This is a joint project which we carry together with two other friends as a give back to our local primary school. With the added stock I will be able to make a profit of up to 70% as the clothes prices hike during Christmas season.
The desktop computer will enable me keep records of my stock and also diversify my business as I always wish to have a cyber Cafe in future.

I wish to thank my lenders for their continued support. I just completed my previous loan and though the economy hasn't been right I was able to replenish my clothing line and purchase some office machines that I required. God bless you Zidisha

Thanks lenders for your trust in me once more. Am really humbled.
With this loan I intend to first add on trench coats and warm sweaters. I will also add on boots. This is necessitated by the heavy rains and cold in the country.
Secondly, I will buy a pagination machine, guillotine blade and screen printing machine wish will help in small printing jobs thereby adding on my income and not stretching my clothing business so much

I have reduced my installment to conform with Zidisha rule that I should hold my loan for at least three months. If I continue to pay 2000/- then it means I will pay within 8 weeks

I am happy to hear your loan has increased your cold weather stock. We are moving towards spring here, though I expect a few more snow storms before the flowers start to grow!

        Hi Mary,
        Thanks for your concern.
It is really cold cold and rainy down here, although the only snow we know of in Kenya is that on My Kenya, lol.
We're experiencing the long rains that commence in March to July. It's the planting season and God willing we expect the cost of food go down.
It's also a high season of selling jackets, coats, shawls and sweaters as we have to keep warm.
You should purpose to make Kenya your holiday destination..
        Love.

Thanks again for Zidisha for the continued financial support you have given me. I have just finished paying my last loan.
With this loan I was able to boost my stock of Women and children clothes. I also added on baby shoes and handbags.
Part of the loan which was previously budgeted for purchase of a copier but had I didn't manage to buy it immediately as the money was rescheduled to pay medical bills of my late daddy.
I however thank God for despite the tough economic and political crisis in the country I still managed to make sales that enabled me to purchase a Photocopying Machine.
    I sincerely thank Zidisha

Thanks again Zidisha for your continued financial assistance. I'm my last loan I managed to purchase and add on more women and children clothes. I also added on baby shoes and handbags.
Part of the loan was budgeted for purchase of a copier but had to wait a little longer as I had to offset medical bills for my dad though he later in the year passed on..
Albeit political and economic crisis that rocked our country I still managed to make sales that enabled me to purchase my Photocopying Machine.
I sincerely thank Zidisha for making my dream come true.

I lost my dad in law on 18th Nov and laid him to rest on 24th. He lost his battle to cancer coupled with high blood pressure, diabetes and chronic asthma. It's sad but we humbly accept God's will. Pray with us.

Politics has almost brought our businesses to their knees. Am still positive that all isn't lost and hope to make some sales over this festive season.

Thanks Zidisha for you are always our listening financial partner. God bless you and your families

This is the most difficult times in my country Kenya. Elections have left us divided, broke and confused. Life is just difficult, no money in circulation and the little people have they unwilling to spend as they are uncertain about tomorrow.

Am struggling too but I thank God that am able to meet my basic needs and bills. Our prayer is that we move out of this period sooner so that our lives get back to normal.

Remember us in your prayers. God bless you and your families.
