I am the third born child in a family of five, a sister, brother, myself and a sister and a brother who are both deceased. My parents divorced when i was about six years old and we were therefore raised by our mother. I was a committed church boy from childhood and after high school i almost joined the seminary to become a priest. But i knew i have a bigger goal and calling and i therefore abandoned the idea to study business and marketing. My mum could obviously not afford to take me to college after my secondary education and i therefore had to hustle to educate myself while holding onto my dream of one day owning an industry whose products will be a household name in Africa and the world
I manufacture soap detergents, bar soap, bathroom soap, hair products, beauty and body products. My source of income has been from my own savings and the from my sales. These are fast-moving consumer products whose demand grows by the day with only a variance of taste and style. I chose this line of business from an understanding that a manufacturer just like a farmer has a big say in determining the price in the market. On average it costs me about KES. 70,000 on purchase of raw materials, transportation and delivery to customers. I use part of the profit on my own education, to educate my two sons and also plow back into the business.
I will apply for relevant licenses for this year which is about 90 U.S dollars. This will enable me to apply for tenders in government institutions and other organizations that require such documents for pre-qualification purposes and also be in compliance with the law.
