About Me

I am a Tours Consultant, running a company Safaris By Jayne.

I love and enjoy organizing safaris for families and groups that have a common interest. We design all programs to suit our clients interests, desires, budge and preferred style of travel.

On the side, I love farming; and currently engaging with groups of small scale farmers in Cherangany; just started growing summer flowers in conjunction with CLARESON International - hoping this can be an alternative means of generating more income in addition to the regular growing of Tea and Maize.

My Business

A safari is made of of many components like park fees, transportation, hotel rooms, meals....etc.
Our biggest challenge is on the higher costs of Transportation. At the moment we have to rely on sub-contracting vehicles from Independent Transporters. It is extremely expensive. One of our goals is to own or lease or own vehicles - 09 seater van, a 4WD Land-Cruiser and a 28 Seater coach. This way, we are able to have more control of the pricing.

For the farming part, we prepared an acre and a half for planting. However, we were only able to afford seedlings for an acre, which we planted about a week ago. Half an acre of the prepared land is lying idle.

So our immediate goal is to fill up the remaining part. Harvesting is expected to start in the month of September. The exporter/buyer will be picking up once a week directly at the farm and paying for the same directly to a KCB Account as per their company policy/Contract.

This loan will be used to pay for the seedlings, buy a hose pipe, pay the farm hand.

Loan Proposal

We will use part of this amount to add about 1/2 an acre of Craspedia seedlings at the Farm in Cherangany. This will cover the cost of labour, just the planting.

A small portion will buy a hose pipe to assist with ease of watering; as the rain is not regular now, and have to ensure all seedlings germinate. The farm has piped water from the CDF and a borehole.

This being a pilot project being used in training the other farmers in the locality, part of it will help on the commute.
