About Me
My name is Stephen Thuku and and born year 1976 from Kenya. I was born in the Rift Valley province of Kenya now known as Nakuru County and cleared my high school 1990 passed with a Grade C.
I latter joined technical training where I pursued a Certificate and Diploma in Print Technology and finished in May 2001 with a pass.
I got married now with two boys having lost my first born in a road accident. My sons headed to class three at Kilimo Primary School who is now about 9 years old.
The second son is heading to three years come March 2019. He is still young so he is now at home with a house help. It was difficult to secure employment until 2013 where i got employed by Egerton University on contract basis renewable after two years therefore there is need to secure the life of my loved ones by saving and investing in them and for them.
I ventured in to part time farming where I foresee the future becoming brighter. I decided to venture in the poultry / Chicken farming becuase its manageable, and easy to run.
My Business
My business is a farming venture where I hatch day old chicks and rear them for one month in a brooder and sell at 2 USD per chick which means have done value addition hence the prospects for growth of my business is expected to be very good and profitable. I therefore need to boost my output by buying feeds and increasing the the space for another brooder to increase capacity.
Loan Proposal
My name is Stephen Thumbi Thuku. I am a part time farmer rearing pigs and indigenous chicken. This is a project that I would wish to concentrate and make it a full time job where I can also create employment to the immediate and to the value chain that I anticipate to create.
The need for food is dwindling each day as the population increases and also as the farm land continues to be used for roads and other infrastructure including housing projects.
This will make the prices of food to escalate and the farmers who can venture into this gap will ultimately get the fruits of their labor. It is in this fact that I intend to expand my breeding stock so that I can supply other farmers with high quality breeds for their farms for them to replicate what I am also doing.
I also would like to increase the production and also secure the market to have steady prices for all the farmers and also ready market for the produce. This is possible by joining hands with willing farmers who can join me and also create a steady supply of our produce so that we can balance the supply to the best buyers/ market.
It is inthis view that I am in the process of constructing more pig stys and feed store to accommodate as much as my piece of farm can accommodate and in this view I intend to borrow some investment money to inject into my growing fortune.
The growth rate is promising and the return from investment is quick as there is already sales of some products and soon will build an abattoir to process and add value to the product.
In total I will be spending close to 3 million Kenya shilling but the good thing is I started with three thousand and now I can talk about 300,000 thousand Kenya shilling of investment.
The investment is gradual and currently I am in dire need of pen/ houses for the pigs as they are multiply very fast. I therefore request loan of any amount to gradually meet my goals.
