About Me

My name is Mercy Makena Mwebia and a resident of meru town that is located in Meru county of the Eastern Kenya.l learnt about Zidisha from my sister Lydia Mwebia who has benefitted from you. I am a medical lab technician by profession and graduated way back in the year 1999.l am a mothet of three beautiful kids. My first born is 10 years old while my daughter is, 6 years old and my lastborn is 3years old and joining school come january.Generally my family is doing good and looking forward to xmas season. I do lot of Dairy farming as well as farming tea crop. After graduating from college l was employed for three years in a private sector but the income was unsustainable hence l decided to venture into business so as to provide for my family.the business is good as lam able to develop myself economically.

My Business

Tea farming and dairy farming are very profitable businesses here in Meru.l have three dairy cows that produce an average of twenty liters of milk dairy that l sell to a dairy co-operative society here in Meru at ks 28 per liter. From this business l earn an income of ks 15,000 after deducting the expenses such as wages for my employees and cost for the feeds.Tea farming is also very profitable though its affected by lot of frost in the area due to the changes of daily temperatures here in Meru. However l sprinkle water during the dry season to avoid losses and do make l use enough fertilizer on the crop so as to increase the produce. From this business l able to earn an income of ks 30,000 monthly depending on the output of the tea leaves.if my application is successful l will use the money to buy tea seedlings that l will plant on my farm so that in the near future l can increase my tea produce hence increasing my income.
