About Me

I am a nineteen year old Kenyan citizen. I am the first born in a family of two children. I live with my parents in Buru Buru, near Harambee Primary School. My brother, Mwangi, is in form three. I cleared high school last year, 2012.
I hold a certificate in Computer Packages.
I have my M-pesa business just at our home, right outside Harambee Primary School. I choose to venture into the business after clearing my computer packages early in January 2013. I talked to my parents to give me some capital to purchase the M-pesa line as we own some shops in Buru Buru, hence having a room to put up the business was easy.
I decided to work as I awaited my results and also through my earnings (profit), I'd be able to cater for part of my school fees as I joined the University mid 2014.
M-pesa is a mobile money transfer business.

My Business

My business is an M-pesa Agent. Mpesa services are provided by Safaricom, one of the leading telecommunication firms in Kenya.
M-pesa provides the platform for people to send and receive money via their telephones. This was introduced when The Chief Excecutive Officer was Mr. Michael Joseph. (More on http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-Pesa)
Where my business is located is a very busy place. We have a school, market, homes, restaurants. I am strategically placed and since M-pesa is the common mode of money transfer due even to its convenience.
I offer fast and reliable services, and always ensure that I open up early and on time.
The business is profitable in that for every transaction, the least amount I get is ksh. 20. Within a day I manage to get Ksh. 2000 minimum and on a good business day I get as much as Ksh. 5000.
M-pesa faces the risk of money fraud. In Kenya there have been reported cases of money fraud by clients receiving erroneous text messages claiming that someone had sent them money incorrectly yet it was just a hoax.
Basically, the business doesnt require extensive training and if with a good location, its something that really can earn you some good money. Also, it doesn't require a much big space to operate. Its flexible and easy to run/ operate.

Loan Proposal

Dear Lenders,
I highly appreciate the opportunity granted to me to seek for a loan from you.
I will use the loan granted by you in the following criteria:
Ksh. 6,000 will be used to purchase a scanner, which is incorporated in the printing and photocopying work.
Also , I will use Ksh. 13,000 to purchase a Cannon Digital Camera so that I can also be taking passports as here in Buru Buru we only have like 2 photo studios, hence I will add a force in the market. This means out of the Ksh . 17,172 loan from you ,I will top it up with Ksh . 2000 to purchase the camera.
Please fund my proposal.

    Dear Lenders,
I have opted to reschedule the loan so as to commence on another repaying procedure and mend my repayment rate.
I have had some personal issues that are now resolved and even better my other business is doing fine as now I have two shops.
I have also sent Ksh. 1000 as repayment.
One of your VM, Mr. Kamande visited me at my shop today and I am deeply sorry for the inconvenience caused so far.
    Thanks.

Hi lenders I have communicated with Chantal Mary Kirigo today on 27th May 2014. And from the communication I noticed that the only answer she gives as of now I quote " I will pay." When asked of When she is willing to pay she talks of next week.
I want to follow up the matter come next week. She also promised to call back and discuss to reschedule her loan if possible.

    Regards.
    Rosemary Vm Kenya.

    Dear Lenders,
As promised and as I stated on the forum, finally she has commenced repaying. I informed her to repay the remaining amount fast in order to catch up with her repayment schedule, but at least she has made some effort.
Also most importantly, I emphasized to her the need to communicate with you to ensure she keeps you up to date with the business and in case of any delay in repayment, she should communicate with you.

    Thanks.

    Best,
    Paul

    Chantal,

When will you start your repayments? You are nearly 3 months in arrears and we have not received any updates on your business.

This has been a true disappointment. I think that your lenders deserve an explanation.

What's up, Chantal? You've been unhelpful to your lenders.

Please don't let us, and your friend Paul Kamande, down.
    Thanks.

    Hello Chantal Mary Kirigo,
I see that you have made zero payments since accepting your Zidisha loan. This is most surprising, since your character has been vouched by Paul Kamande, and well known and respected member of the Zidisha community. Please do not let him, and your lenders, down.
    Thank you. Marvin

    Chantal,

How have you been doing? How's your business coming along? Did you buy both the scanner and the digital camera?

I was also wondering when you think you might start making payments on your loan. Do you need to reschedule?

    Thanks,
    Cris

You ought to start repaying USD 11 january 01. If you truly appreciate the assitance, you would also repay on time.

    Dear Lenders,
I have just talked with Miss Shantel. She will commence on her repayment latest by end of January.
By 29th if she will not have posted her repayment, I wilk contact her again to remind her on the same.
She had earlier invested her capital to purchase an Epson printer at an offer she couldn't let go since through the printer, quality printing and photocopy services would be offered
I have also reminded her to constantly update you on her business progress
    Thanks

    Hi Chantal,
I'm glad to hear the loan is helping. How will the scanner and digital camera help you in the mPesa business?
    Thanks.

      Hi Marvin,
      Sorry for the late reply.
I have incorporated both businesses under one roof owing to the fact that they are under one licence from Nairobi City Council.
Also, they complement each other in terms of services. To register for mpesa, or activate a Safaricom line, one has to photocopy his or her own i.d, and that's why I also opted to have the two businesses under one roof.
Apart from that, the two services are highly required in Buru Buru due to the growing population

      Thanks
