About Me

I'm a physics and chemistry teacher at a girls school in kitale. I'm also interested in agriculture which is actually what I want to be remembered for. It is the dry season here and will be so until March. Agricultural production is at it's lowest point as a result of the dry co conditions. I usually grab the opportunity to produce vegetables off season so as to capture the good markets when supplies are low. I already have half an acre under capsicum but I am pushing to plant more to reach an area of 1 acre. I need to buy 10,000 more seedlings to add to what I already have. My sales begins in a fortnight from today Jan 12th. I hope to grow my farming enterprise to export levels in three years time.

My Business

I'm a teacher by profession. I farm on the side. I'd like to grow my farming enterprise by taking it up more seriously. After years of trial learning I've identified my niche in onion farming which I'm currently establishing in stages. Stage 1 is a month underway and stage two is due. I'm targeting school markets next year as these are easily available to me given my acquaintances with school heads. I also do capsicum, beans, cabbages and maize. This dry season my specialty is capsicum which is coming up well

Project Proposal

Basically I have most other infrastructure in place however I intend to use the funds to procure ready cabbage seedlings to enable timely planting so as to secure the target market window.

Much gratitude to all my backers for this. I'm getting seedlings and setting them up this very weekend as the rains set on. To God be the glory

This year has been full of promise u like last year that threw a lot of surprises my way. In kitale Kenya where I live, it is expected around this time of year that rains will gradually subside as we head into a dry season. However this year we have predictions of elnino rains which have spurred renewed interest in growing other crops after the maize that has just been harvested and is currently drying.
I am therefore doing more cabbages and beans in stages. I already have a crop beginning to head while a second is establishing. I also got three bean crops at different stages of growth the first one being at flowering stage already. I'm pushing to put two more cabbage crops into the works to be sold of late December or early January when markets should be good.

I farm in kitale. my last project was garden beans which was affected by low rainfall and inadequate pest control but all the same it brought some returns. so I am doing the same again in the short rain season but on 0.6acres unlike the first time when it was 0.35acres. I have planned to mitigate against inadequate rain by laying sprinkler head paths at the onset for ease of supplying supplemental water.

Am most grateful for the kind consideration. Am mainly buying bean seed which a little pricey at the moment. Will take about 8kg to do the space o have prepared and three months to mature. Thanka

I am immediately hiring the skilled men who undertake the sinking of the wells to embark6on the work. Meanwhile i will source bricks for lining the well and Portland cement. Thanks to sir Austin Charles from Nigeria for the kind support.

Production is underway with tiekds upto 100kg weekly which is lower than anticipated due to prevailing hot and extremely dry conditions. It has become clear that i need to sink a new well with bigger water capacity to maintain the projected production levels

I currently have capsicum farming projects running in series. The first lot of them enters marketing in three weeks and another in five weeks. The last lot still requires finance to get it planted. Thank you for the invaluable support
