My name is Marion Nyawira from Meru County. Meru is in the slopes of the snow-capped Mount Kenya and it is a very cold area. The community around here does farming, mainly coffee and other food crops. I was born and raised in a family of 6 and I am the second last born.
Like other children in the family, I was taken to primary and later secondary school for my education. I did not proceed with academics after that. I got married but my husband became very abusive after the birth of our first child until I decided to quit the marriage. With the harsh life staring at me, I rented a small house and made a simple structure which I use as a restaurant where I sell meals to the locals.
I run a simple restaurant where I sell food to the local community. My clients are mostly construction laborers who normally come to my establishment for a quick bite during their work breaks. A simple meal of maize and beans cost about half a dollar.
I make about $12 a day and $5 goes into expenses and I use the balance to support my child with his daily needs. My desire is to construct a better structure where I can prepare the food in a hygienic way and get better chairs and tables.
I want to use money from this loan to connect my restaurant with electricity. I am currently using a hurricane lamp for lighting and this has limited me since I cannot stay long in the restaurant when the night comes. I will be able to work for extended hours once I have the supply done.
I will use about $160 to pay the service provider and another $50 to do simple wiring.
Thank you.
