About Me

I am a graphic designer and livestock farmer. Born in Nairobi Kenya and raised in Machakos town. I am the first born of three children to a single mother. I have a Diploma in Business Administration from Technical University of Mombasa. After my college studies in Mombasa, I moved to Machakos and did volunteer work in NGOs. Driven by passion I went into business 2 years later (2011) to start a graphic design agency called Jomac Media. In 2014 having lost my grandparents and my father I moved to my local village in Masii to manage my grandfathers estate. My desire to utilize land and create employment saw me start goat farming. I acquired a few local breed of sheep/ goats and opened a butchery in a Peri-urban settlement area in Machakos called Mjini in my hope that I can sell affordable meat to improve nutritional security. Adequate consumption of animal source foods amongst the poor communities here still lags behind because of cost challenge. To date I have identified best breed of sheeps and goats that I can breed in my farm to improve animal source products in the market. I have already started securing feed and making housing units for at least 200 sheeps. I want to acquire 50 ewes by January 2016. An ewe cost Kes. 5600 and hope to raise atleast KES. 560000 from loan and grands

My Business

I have two businesses, Jomac Media which I have operated for four years and Earthorganic Industries which is a year old. I earn my income from Jomac Media by developing marketing and communication mediums for SMEs, IEC materials for NGOs and advertising consult for start ups.
It is from this that I support myself, and the new business (Earthorganic Industries) whose primary business is forage, tree seedlings and livestock husbandry.

Loan Proposal

I expanded my farm with a poultry unit of 300 indigenous chicken chicks at the end of September, 2017. They are now in the 5th month, grown and overcrowded in a small broader house. In the 6th month they will start laying.
I want to develop a larger coup 39ft by 14ft with 3 sections which has a material and labour cost of kes. 100,000. I have kes. 45,000 in savings, and requiring at least kes. 60,000 to boost this project.

My layers are 4 months into laying. It cost Kshs 5.7 to get an egg and make a sale of Kshs. 8.3 an egg earning an average Kshs. 2.6 against the standard average revenue of Kshs. 5. Still hopeful that the market will improve.

One of the advantages of being in Zidisha was being able to organize the repayment schedule according to how you can pay without Zidisha undoing it.

I have made efforts to pay lump deposits. But Zidisha has moved from reminders to issuing CRB threats. WHY ZIDISHA?

The collateral placed with you is even more than the amount due. Putting someone in a CRB for 30 dollars when you have a collateral of 50 dollars is rather extreme, Don't you think!

The egg market in Kenya is flooded, The market price has been working against us mostly because imports are not being controlled. Now the market is experiencing a huge exit by local farmers.

Business has gone down, I am not making enough sales. I have noticed people have cut back on spending due to the recent economic statue in Kenya, high taxes and this is affecting us alot.

My primary source for paying this loan is eggs, The production has reduced. Since everything else in the rearing is constant, I take its the cold weather we are experiencing in our Masii-Machakos area.

I just concluded my chicken expansion. My apology for the delay in payment, I had a bit of deficit in my capital. The project is going on well, and promising. In future I will need to construct a bigger commercial facility because of the demand in the market especially for eggs.

Thank you lenders for your overwhelming support. My last loan has helped me so much to grow my farm. From kales, I have been able to venture into poultry farming with a special interest in breeding an improved indigenous chicken variety called Kuroiler. I started this venture a few months ago with 300 chicks. They are now in the 5th month and overcrowded in a small brooder house.

The chicken will start laying eggs in the 6 Month, that is end of February. I am requesting for this fund to boost development of a 39ft by 14ft chicken house with 3 sections.
I have Kes. 45,000 in savings and I need atleast Kes. 100,000 for material acquisition and labour for the development of the chicken coup.
This venture is very exciting and I am encouraged by groups which have visited the farm and even requested I develop a demonstration site where people can come an learn.
Hope to raise Kes.60,000 from this loan to boost this project. Thank you for your continued support.

Currently, am harvesting and selling the coriander at KES.50 a bunch.
I am planting more of it since its proving to be more convenient and good returns for a dry land area. All my farm products are 100% organic.

I immediately started preparing my beds for Kale seedlings and coriander. I am an environment enthusiast so I planted tree cuttings. Anyway what is nature without conservation, right?
