About Me

I am Jackline Ngetich, married with one daughter. I was born and brought up in Kericho county, Kipkelion Sub county. I schooled in Kericho primary and later proceeded to secondary school and joined Moi university to pursue Nursing course. Though I went through education with a lot of difficulty especially in paying of school fees, I thank God that my parents struggled for me to finish. I am the first born in our family and one can guess what I am going through now in educating the rest of my siblings. My third born brother is in his last year, he is also doing medicine and I am responsible for that. Our fourth born sister is yet to join college next year, she was to join this year but I told her to hold on first as our brother is finishing this year.
Due to all this, though I am working as a school nurse my salary could not pay fees at the same time meet my needs so we ventured into farming with my husband.

My Business

We seriously ventured into growing of maize and beans and also engaging in keeping of livestock. We had bought 5 acre land and that is where we are doing all this. Like this year we have harvesting 60 bags of maize, 12 bags of beans and 9 bags of sorghum. Although we sold 10 bags of maize to pay my brother's fees I am yet to wait until next year where the prices would have gone up. After the deduction of all the expenses we normally have a minimum of Ksh. 110,000 in a good year. Also the cows we have kept normally boost us so much as we sell the grown up bulls sells at Ksh. 30,000-45,000 though may be after 2-3 years. The much we get pays school fees and the remaining goes back to farming.

Loan Proposal

When I get this loan I intend to add 2 acres (renting) for the next season so that I will add my harvest. 1 acre goes for Ksh 6,000x2= Ksh 12,000. Due to this, I will be able pay school fees and meet my needs with no difficulty
