About Me

I am Zambian lady aged 46, born in a family of 6 to Mr and Mrs Akisi Chimalo in rural setup. And I did my high school education at Madzimoyo (Living waters) Day Secondary School from 1989 to 1993 though with financial hardship.
It was after I finished high school that I stayed at home without knowing which course to do due to financial constraints, until my young sister sponsored me to go and do tailoring and designing at Saint Anne’s Tailoring School, and after finishing the course, a good Samaritan bought me a Tailoring machine, I started tailoring and designing business at home. This business has greatly helped me take my children to school.
Little about my country Zambia: Zambia is a country with friendly and hard working people who like helping and supporting each other.

The difficult part of my life has been taking my children to school, but this has not driven my children’s ambition i.e. the only boy, his ambition is to become a successful business man. And four ladies, some desire to become teachers, nurses and the other one business lady.
On several occasions I have been visiting places like rivers and lakes watching and admiring people (fishermen) catching fish. And my desire is to start an additional business of buying and selling fish.

My Business

Since the time I finished tailoring and designing course I have been doing tailoring business. I am situated in midst of Primary and Secondary Schools hence my tailoring business is on high demand, I am one of the major supplier of school uniforms and fashion designs in the community. Selling a complete uniform is USD$10, and fashion design for women is USD $15. In a pick month I make $300 profit. I use my profit to support my children for school and reinvestment in growing the business.

My initial plan for applying for a loan from Zidisha is to start buying fish from Lake Malawi and come sell in the bordering town of Zambia, namely Chipata.

Loan Proposal

With the loan that I hopefully I will be funded from Zidisha I will use it to buy fish from Lake Malawi and come and sell in Chipata, Zambia, a bordering town. And the budget is as follows: Fish = $100, food and transport = $50.

After selling fish that I will buy from lake Malawi I expect to make $400 in total.

The outcome of this loan will greatly help improve my family life and help send my children to school.
