My names are George Ngugi Born in the year 1985 in Nyahururu. I am the second born in the family of six. I started my early education in Nakuru where I used to stay with my Aunt as my parents were more in business. I was late to attend my Secondary Education at Kagumo Secondary School and completed in the year 1998. I am married with three children who are in primary school. My interest in business can be traced back when I was still young and this is through inspiration parents who have been in farming for as long as i can remember. Its with this inspiration that upon completion of my Secondary school I enroled for a Diploma course in Agricultural Extension. With 5 Years and no job forthcoming, i ventured into farming, something I am proud of todate.
I am in farming business growing a variety of crops mainly Irish potatoes, Carrot, cabbages and French beans. I also rear Dairy cows of Fresian Breed which does produce about 15kgs of milk every day we use about 2kg for the family and sell on average 13kgs per day to Dairymen co-operative society getting an average of 120 USD per month. My main activity is with milk production as with crops, require more time looking for market and same time market prices keeps on changing and frequent exploitation by middle men. Whenever this happens I convert the crop farming produce to cow feeds, e.g when cabbages are fetching low prices, I feed them to my cows. Currently I have one cow with one quality breed heifer about 1 ½ years old. My monthly turnover is on average USD 300 from my other farming business and this is what use for family upkeep and what remains is taken back to areas of priority in business.
Thank you for the first loan, it was a success, with my second loan, I am requesting lenders to help fund me in support of acquiring a fresian High breed dairy cow that will help me increase my milk sales. At first i had though of cross breeding with cows that I already have but ended up selling the heifer since It did not satisfy me that its going to be a good cow with high yield. I intend to buy a heifer with about 1 year to calving so that I take care of it until time of calving. Currently a good Fresian Breed is going for USD 600, I kept part of proceeds from the one that i sold and i will add to what i will get from Zidisha lenders. I will also change the feeds to ensure that i get the maximum out of this breed as I know good feeding will boost milk production.
