About Me

I am 33 years old married and blessed with 2 girls. I was educated up to form four of secondary level. After school I managed to do casual labor until when I decide to start a business to assist my family continues. I am from Rongai district, Rongai division, Visoi location Kimangu farm in Nakuru County.

My Business

In 2007 I started a Green grocery where I do sell all types of green vegetables and fruits. Advantage of my grocery is that the types of fruits and vegetables that I sell are not grown in this area and so the demand is high. There are few groceries in the area so the competition is very low.
It has good profit that sustains my family and loan payment. In future, I plan to supply the fruits and vegetables in schools plus other institutions around this place.
The disadvantage of a green grocer is that goods are perishable therefore requires deep fridge’s for good storage of which I plan to acquire

Loan Proposal

I josephp mbugua githinji for this loan that i will be given, i will use 30% of it to increase my stock .
for example a used to have two creates of tomatoes, but fore now i will be having fore creates.

the vegetables;e.g cabbages,spin age,sweat potatoes, arrow routs,i will increase them by 40%.
the 10% i will use it for increasing my kiosk.

That's great I was just wondering whether he regretted taking the loan in the light of the troubles he's faced, but fortunately it seems not. Thanks for the update.

Dear Lenders, I'm glad to report that Joseph Mbugua Githinji is still very grateful to Zidisha for the loan he got and he is indeed very sorry for not having been able to repay his loan as planned owing to some financial constraints which he has overcome recently.
He has however promised to resume his loan repayments by repaying Ksh. 1000 every Sunday.

Sorry that I have not been able to repay my loan for some time owing to some financial challenges as I explained earlier. However, I'm glad to report that I have recovered from this and thus I'm ready to resume my repayments weekly(every Sunday).

I wish to resume by monthly repayments by paying weekly installments of Ksh. 1000. Please accept my apologies for the earlier delay.

    Dear lenders,

I spoke just now with Mr. Mbugua. We had been trying to contact him and the church pastor who had signed a recommendation in support of his application to join Zidisha ever since Mr. Mbugua's repayments stopped in July. The phone system in Kenya is inconsistent, and our previous attempts at calling had not gone through. This time I was able to reach Mr. Mbugua with a good enough phone connection to understand his explanation.

Mr. Mbugua had made his loan repayments consistently each month from January to July. He explained that in July, his brother's wife gave birth to twins and that the infants needed to be hospitalized after birth. Mr. Mbugua diverted all of his financial resources to pay the hospital bills in an effort to save the children. Tragically, one of the twins passed away. The other has been discharged from the hospital.

Mr. Mbugua is left with few resources to resume loan repayments, though he mentioned he was planning to sell something in order to settle his debts. I advised him to formally reschedule his loan repayments, and he said he would try to find a place to access the internet in order to do so.

    Best,

    Julia Kurnia
    Director, Zidisha

To be honest Mr Githiji, I felt that I couldn't really afford to lend you this money because zidisha says we should not lend more than we can afford to lose, I kept checking back, hoping for others to complete the bid, but nobody did.
I have seen 2 other bids fail just this week and it is hard for borrowers to reapply, delay or maybe miss their dream altogether.
So just before midnight with some nervousness I risked all my savings on you. This month will be a bit lean for me but I don't care, it is manageable.
I tell you this not to boast, just to inspire you knowing that a total stranger has confidence in you.
          Best wishes from England, UK

No matter how big the difference of us in terms culture, tradition, religion and beliefs are still zidisha do help borrowers without seeing each other face to face. May God keep this unity strong. It’s the second week since the teachers strike was called off in Kenya. This is making my day to day sales to increase. For example the demand of watermelon is high because the weather in this area is hot, thus if I get extra cash through your loans I will hit a jackpot though the sales of watermelon.
Three things of life that are most valuable love, self¬ confidence and friends since I have confidence and friends in zidisha, I believe I will successes.

Dear lenders, a friend is never a coincidence in our life, they are meant to enter our life to bring you joy and laughter. So i will treasure the friendship between me and ZIDISHA fraternity. In my green grocery Kiosk, i am also selling potatoes and advising customers to take them with skin. Since potatoese are the best blood pressure reducer. They boost potassium intake which significantly lowers the BP. I am still waiting for the loan to be fully funded. God bless you.
