About Me

My name is Philip, i am a Ghanaian. I am married with two children. My wife is a waitress in town. We are both very hard working people and we try our best to provide for our children and our families in the village. I am a taxi driver in Accra and i also have a small bakery at home, where we bake bread and other pastries. Most of the money i make is used to pay school fees for my two children. Because i could not reach far in my education, i want them to be well educated. We live in Ashaiman, in Accra, in a rented one bedroom house. This is not the best place to raise children so i plan to move to a more secure place soon, if i am able to save some money. I and my wife always try to be available for our children and make them happy. I like playing with them.

My Business

I am a taxi driver in Accra. I start work from 5 AM everyday and close by 7PM. I go for the car from my car owner and make sure i return it in time. The taxi business is very good but i have to supplement it with the bakery to get a little more money for myself. at the moment i am able to buy a 50 kg bag of flour a week, this costs 130 cedis. from this we can bake about 150 loaves of bread and make biscuits for sale. at the end of the week i make about 300 cedis out of this. i use my taxi for supplies so i get a lot of customers. some too come and buy from the house. the money from here supports the the family in addition to the taxi profits.

Loan Proposal

i will buy an additional bag of flour for my bakery, bake more loaves of bread and buscuits, this will increase our sales. also with my taxi as a means of supplying,i can reach more customers. people eat bread every morning, so selling will be fast and i will be able to pay back my loan as soon as possible. Thank you all.

    Dear Lenders,

my name is Roberta Zenere and I am Zidisha Country Expansion Coordinator for Ghana. I have noticed that after repaying the first loan installments, Mr Owusu has accumulated some arrears. I am trying to contact him and understand if he is experiencing some difficulties with his bakery. So far I was unable to reach him, but I will keep on trying and share with you any update.

Mr Owusu, please let us know how your business is going and how we can assist you in regards to your loan repayment. Remember that you can always contact Zidisha by sending an email at service@zidisha. org.

    Thanks and best regards,

    Roberta
