About Me

I am a single mother aged 41 years. I am the sole bread winner of my family. I have an O level education background and a part from this i also possess a diploma in secretariat studies from Graffins College in Kenya. I have been in employment for over fifteen(15) years in three different companies. During this period I experienced numerous problem both financially and socially. This was because the salary was small and could not make me meet the needs of my family and even my own needs. This prompted me to think of starting a small business but still this came with its own economic and social challenges. I therefore opted to join a small micro-finance group which was helping young women and ladies to meet their financial needs by empowering them by giving them small loan at a low and affordable interest rate which they could manage to pay with less hustles. From this small loan I managed to start a small shop where I sell Fast Moving Goods to people living around me. I use the interest from this shop to cater for my family needs and pay school fees for my child.

My Business

i have a small retail shop whereby I stock items like sugar, wheat and maize flour, cooking fat, milk, bread and many other small items. I also stock beauty products like cotex lipstick, hair braids etc. My business is located in Utawala estate. I also stock cereals like beans, maize, rice and green vegetables. Even though I do not have many customers, the few I have enable me to get something. This is mainly because I am cable of stocking almost everything that they are in need of. My customers include women because I stock according to their needs. Also school going children are my customers because they buy snacks from my shop.
I try to sell my items at competitive prices and that way am able to stock more from the daily sales.
i spend about 15,000 Kenya Shillings per month on house rent, school fees, Transport, food and other basic needs.
The risks that my business face include my business is far from the whole sale shop hence making me to spend more on transport and their is also stiff competition from other shops around. The infrastractures in Utawala is also still poor since the road is not all weather and during rainy season it get in accessible.

Loan Proposal

I will expand my business with my second loan from Zidisha Inc.I started up a wines and spirits business after being granted a loan by Zidisha Inc. The business is doing well so far. I will increase my stock so that i will be able to meet my customers needs.

I will buy a senator keg pump which will cost me around fifteen thousand kenya shillings (15,000) I will buy two cylinders for the Keg beer which will cost around eight thousand kenya shillings, the beer will cost around seven thousand kenya shillings. I will also purchase two dozens of cups which will cost about five thousand kenya shillings.

I will use the rest of the loan to clear school fees balances for my son who is in secondary school.

I wish to change my loan repayment schedule because of the following reasons:-
    1) My business has become a bit slow due to the difficult economic times.

    2) School fees where my son is schooling has gone up and therefore I need some time to adapt to the new fees structure.

    3) My customers whom I depend on are casual labourers and nowadays they are not getting jobs as they used to get before therefore making it hard for me to meet most requirements.

    4) House rent for both my business and residence has gone up.

In order for me to be able to repay my loan promptly, I would kindly request you to reduce my repayment amount and I promise I will clear my Loan balance without much difficulties.

The loan has really help[ed me and I thank Zidisha for the chance they have given me. Hoping for a favourable response. Thank you in advance.

The loan from zidisha inc has really helped me. I I have already started another business of wines and spirits. Thank you zidisha. I need to clear the loan balance before my time expires so that I apply for another loan. Now that I am already a member, will I follow the same long process of applying in order to get a second loan.

I would like to be employed by Zidisha as a field officer. I previously worked in the position with Jamii Bora as a Loans Officer.
