About Me

Am Moses Oduor .Born on 25/01/1983 and raised in Busia County.

I went to Green hills Academy School; where i did my O levels in 1999.

In 2002, i worked with the freight forwarders at Busia broader as a port clerk for five years. After which, I joined the freight forwarders classes for 1 year in 2005 and was able to attain my certificate in clearing & forwarding which qualified me to join the group.

Through the job of clearing & forwarding, I was able to set up a project of poultry keeping at our home
In Busia.

My goal in the business is to create a commercial poultry farm to supply my products as far as off my country.

I left the Country to Doha, Qatar in 2014 under financial pressures and returned in 2021.

While, in Doha I was able to open up a few shops, transferred my poultry business to Kitale and started grain farming specifically (Maize and Yellow beans) which I harvest and sell to miller's and consumers. My goal is to become one of the biggest commercial grain farmers in this area in the years to come.

My Business

Am a businessman with a poultry farm of Kienyeji chicken and ducks .Wherein, i sell eggs, chicken and ducks for meat consumption.

My poultry farm currently has 800 birds 50 cocks and 550 hens and 200 chicks. In a day they feed on 4kgs out of 90 kgs of chicken and chick feeds which I purchase from of agrovets at a cost of = Kshs 3,700 per 90kg bag.

For every hutching period I get 600 chicks which i vaccinate the for Kshs 12,000 @ Kshs per chick .

After a period of six months I manage to get 500 birds to which I sell to available markets anywhere in Kenya including wholesalers, retailers and consumers i.e hotels and bars within Kitale Town.

I transport my birds to town in baskets on boda bodas. I spend kshs 2000 on transport in weekly basis during supply period.

I renovate my poultry house in every three months for Kshs 5,000. I am looking forward to expand it by building a bigger house and getting more sustainable feeding mechanism for the birds.

On the other hand, I am farming yellow beans on a hired 10 acres which I harvest twice a year (70 bags of 90 kgs). The inputs from planting to marketing is approximately Kshs 300,000 and would sell to wholesalers @ Kshs 7,000 for a 90kg bag.

I am also currently hiring 50 acres on which I have planted maize which I am looking forward to harvest approximately (1000 bags of 90 kgs) in the year end. The inputs to marketing is approximately 1.2 million and would sell to cereals or wholesalers at about Kshs 2000 per 90 kg bag depending on demand.

Loan Proposal

i will use 3000/= to get more birds for my stock i will use 2400/= buy feed for my birds for the hole month i will buy buy a bicycle for 5000/= which i will use to transport my stock to destination.
I’m much thankful to lenders for these first loan you are willing to give me it will really help me to be able to achieve certain sales point i want. i will use 2400/= buy feed for my birds for the hole month. these will give me time to arrange for the medication for the chicks i will buy buy a bicycle for 5000/= which i will use to transport my stock to destination.- i will use 2400/= buy feed for my birds for the hole month. these will give me time to arrange for the medication for the chicks i will buy buy a bicycle for 5000/= which i will use to transport my stock to destination. I am planning to expand my business by selling eggs to egg deport which will give me 100% profit that means i will be able to pay my loan on time and swift. i.e. one eggs I will sell them at 9/= which the will be of great profit since I used to sell them at 6/- to shops. since my business is not taxable and i will not use any transport i shall use my profit in paying my loan back..

Due to unexpected change of weather that delayed drying of my beans, hence not yet ready for market.

I received my loan of Kshs 1,071 on a time.

I topped up on the cash I had and used it to pay laborers who are drying my yellow beans that I just harvested two weeks ago.

Thanks to the lenders who supported my project.

    Lenders,
Moses number is still not going through.
Rose, his family member 1 is the wife, she is not picking her calls.
His community leader, Shariff told me that Moses went to Qatar, he got a job there. Shariff is tying to talk to the wife, to convince Moses to send money so that this loan balance can be cleared. I will follow with Shariff to see whether the money can be recovered.
    Thanks
