About Me

My name is Maryline Akoth, and I was born in the year 1976, the last born in my father's home. I did my primary school exam in 1993 and my secondary school exam in 1997.

I am married and blessed with 3 children. The eldest daughter has done her final exam of high school this year in 2014. The second-born and last one are boys and they are in primary school.

I am born again and a pastor with Citadel of Praise Church for the last seven years in Eldoret, Kenya. I hold a diploma in Biblical Studies and I also am a business woman together with my husband.

I live in a slum estate known as Kamukunji in Old Uganda Road stage 4, next to Gituro Quarry, opposite Sunrise Academy. You turn to the lest side and there is our plot. The owner is Mr. David N. Wainaina, and the plot number is 16/528/001. Ask for mama Quintor.

My Business

My business is grocery in Kamukunji estate of Eldoret Town,Uasin gishu county ,Kenya.I buy and sell green vegetables ,carbages ,all types of grains ,eggs and all types of fruits.I started the business three years ago, my source of the earning from church and also the profit I make from the business. My customers prefer my business because I am always there to serve them and they never find us closed .I choose the business because it requires small capital to get started and also it is highly profitable ,there is high demand for the products that we are selling to them. The estate is over crowded or densely populated .The risk my business faces is scarcity of products due to lack of enough capital to stock fully.
My typical monthly cost of running the business is US$ 115 while Gross profit or income before these expenses is usually approximately US$ 300 .I normally use the profits from my business as follows :
50% to support family up keep
10% to support my local church
30% i put back in business stock
20% savings
