About Me

My name is George Nduati Ngugi I was born in 1990 at Gachie in Kiambu County. I attend Gachii primary school for both my ECD and primary school education from 1996 to 2004 where I sat for my KCPE which is the final examination in primaly eduction. In the year 2005 I joined Gachie secondary school for four years completing in 2009. After school I traveled to town of Nakuru where I went and joined my brother who was working with Unga limited, a company well knows in dealing with maize flour which is a staple food here in Kenya. Eventually, my brother was able to find me a job in the same company. I was attached to the milling section where I leant a lot in maize milling and flour production. I worked in this section for two years 2010 and 2011. In the year 2012 I decided it was time to quit and try my skills in self employment. With my little savings I bought a second hand posho mill on hire purchase basis. I rented a front shop in Kanu Street at Langa Langa which is one of the well upcoming town sections of Nakuru town. It is here that i started maize milling and selling flour to the local community. I am married with two children.

My Business

My business is basically dealing with maize milling and selling the flour to my customers. I started this kind of business with my little savings from my former employment. I bought a second hand posho mill through hire purchase and today I am proud because I was able to complete paying for it. I settle on this kind of business after I realized there was great demand for maize flour in the town of Nakuru and its environs. I usually travel to the western part of the country to Kitale, webuye, malaba etc which area is the country’s grain basket to purchase my maize in sacks. I prefer buying it from these areas because it is cheaper and leaves me with better profit margin. By so doing, I am able to pass the same benefit to my customers by selling the same commodity cheaper than that of my competitors. My business does well because I get good profit margin in which I am able to pay for my monthly bills and salaries for my four workers. It is also from its proceeds that I was able to purchase a piece of land at maili saba where I am planning to build my own house in the near future. There are a number of challenges that my business face but the most difficult one is luck of good capital to purchase a maize huller which will give me an opportunity to start milling a sifter blend of maize flour known as “Unga number one” and very popular among the urban community. I believe with zidisha platform I will be able to achieve this goal.

Loan Proposal

with my next loan i plan to start packaging the maize flour in 1kg and 2kg packets and also use part of the loan in acquiring the kenya national bureal of statictics(kebs) logo that will see me able to go market my flour in supermarkets within Nakuru and towns like Naivasha which neighbour Nakuru.
my vision is to sell my product to every town in my country and also feed many Kenyans within reach and i know that with the support of zidisha lenders my dreams will come true.
thanks alot zidisha platform as you fund me on my second loan.
