About Me

My full names are Leah Waithera kimani. I am a resident of Kiptagwanyi shopping center about 45 kilometers from Nakuru town. I have been in Kiptangwanyi for a long time. We relocated to Kiptangwanyi in the year 1992 where I have been with my family. The area at this time was not very developed and starting a business was very challenging. The population of the area was also quite low. There was no electricity and the roads that connected the area to major towns such as Nakuru, Gilgil, and Naivasha were very poor and in some instances very impassable. Nowadays, the place is better as there is electricity and the population is also quite high. I am a married woman with two children who are all in school. They are both in primary school. I have taken them to a boarding school and this is where they are learning to. The quality of education at these institutions is quite high. II live in my own piece of land which is plot number 1054 at the shopping center. I operate a hardware shop at the shopping center. This business I started in the year 2001and is quite good and the demand for the products that I sell is high.

My Business

I operate a hardware shop at the shopping center. I have in this business for over ten years now and this is quite a good experience. I started this business as a small hardware shop and this improved slowly by slowly. I started this business as a small hardware shop. I was selling building and construction materials such as nails, cement, damp proofs, iron sheets and other construction stuffs. Later, with the revenues increasing, I ploughed them back into the business and it grew to medium sized hardware shop as it is now. The demand for these products is high and I have quite a good number of frequent customers. This has been attributed to the growing of the shopping center and also the rate at which people are acquiring land is high resulting into more building and construction. The main challenges that this business encounter are lack of good roads that increase the transportation costs, and fluctuation of world prices of this products. There is a high potential for improving this business and I hope that with more funds I will be able to improve this business to the next level.

Loan Proposal

It is such another great opportunity that I have been offered by Zidisha microfinance to post a loan in your website. I wish to use this loan to add more hardware materials in the business. The business has picked on well and I am able to satisfy most of my customers needs and as well as offering quality services. This has been because of the first loan which has helped me so much. I will put this loan into proper use and ensure that I have improved the business to the best level.

I phoned Leah today 1.22pm . She did not pick my call. I called her CL , Athanasios who confirmed that Leah had moved away from Kiptangwanyi. He has been unable to locate Leah as efforts to reach her are futile.
I called Leah's brother, Simon, who agreed to prevail on Leah to restart repayments.
    Let's hope Leah restarts soon.

    VM Shehi.

Hi Leah, has your loan been rescheduled? And what about the wheater and the crops of your customers? I hope you are well.

    dear lenders,
I wish to request to reschedule my loan for this months as my business has not been doing well and this has prompted me to earn very little income for the last one month. This was due to the delayed rainfalls which did not fall at the expected time. The purchasing power of most customers reduced and I could not be able to make to repay this month.

Good evening lenders and all Zidisha stakeholders,
I take this opportunity to inform you that i will not be able to repay my monthly repayment of February on time and thus requiring to repay the amount next month. My business has not done well for the past few weeks and am highly positive that things will be alright and i will be able to pay my next monthly repayment on time.

I see your repayments are coming in again. Thank you for that! The money is already on its way to the next loan.
Sorry to hear you had difficulties in the last two month. I hope business is doing better now, and you did not have to scrape the last pennies to make repayments. I wish the best of health and luck to you and your family!

A note to Zidisha: I see technically Mrs. Waithera is still a month behind the schedule. As she starts making repayments again, would it be possible to reschedule the loan again so she does not have to run a month behind? Live is stressful enough without being one level down in the basement, payment wise.

Thank you lenders for such a great role that you have played in my life and as well as my business. I have done great things in the business and as well as improving it to a great level. The loan was of very great help and I am happy to know the existence of Zidisha organization. I have made tremendous progress in the business and thus my income has increased. I wish to repay the remaining amount at this moment. Thank you for your continued support.
