About Me

I was born in a rural area by the name of Maso near Brooke Kericho town.I attended a primary school near my home after i cleared my primary education i attended my secondary school. I did my secondary through hardship until i completed my fourth form with a lot of struggles where by had to come and assist my mum with her farm work after school in order for her to raise my school fees.I managed to clear my fourth form and since i had seen my mum do farming i also got interested and i started rearing kienyeji chicks.

My Business

I keep kienyeji chicks which i sell for meat and eggs.I sell chicken meat to hotels around Kericho town and the eggs i sell to my neighbours but mostly i keep for breeding more chicks. I chose this kind of business because its starting capital is not expensive it does not need a big space and its not costly in terms of feeds and management. Its profit i use to buy more chicks and their feeds and also improve the facility they are living on. The remainder i pay school fees for my kids.
After i took zidisha loan i was able to also plant vegetables from the manure of my chicken and they are doing very well.

Loan Proposal

I'll use the funds to purchase Chicken Feeds.
10 Dollars will be used to buy commercial chicken feeds (growers mash), while 9 Dollars will be used to buy medication for vaccination.
This will help my chicks grow faster and healthy so that they may start laying as expected. Further, the vaccination will ensure that my chicks grow without being prone to common chicken diseases, e.g; Chicken Pox, Fowl Pox, and many, many others.
Since I expect my business to grow exponentially, I will recruit an assistant to help me in running day to day activities, which include feeding the chicken and collecting of laid eggs.
Apparently, I have no income since my chicks, which are the first batch I started with, are only 3 months. However, upon attaining the age of 4 months, I expect my returns to go up to five Dollars to Eight Dollars per week, being turnover from eggs sold.

With the previous loan i purchased vaccination drugs and feeds and it really helped my chicken in production and there was less who were dying because of diseases. My earnings increased compared to my previous earnings. I have used the profits to plant vegetables which i now supply to hotels in Kericho town. The manure from my chicken have really boosted my vegetables production. I also sell the manure to my neighbors thus increasing my earnings and i have managed to pay school fees for my children without much struggle. I am so grateful to my lenders.

The reason for my change of installment is because i have been able to sell my chicken and at least im getting a better amount than before. i have also managed to plant vegetables using the manure i get from the chicken i keep and i im getting a good harvest thus the reason for my change of installment.

    Hi Betty,
Do you know about worm farming?
I'm trying to get people to realise that they can feed chickens converting their waste into worms as well as compost.
If you want to try this I will send money
