About Me

My name is Moses Toroitich Benson, from Eldoret Town, Rift Valley Kenya.
I currently keep 50 indigenous chickens in a little house. I collect an average of 30 eggs a day, and the demand for my products is soaring.

In August last year, I decided to take the business seriously and put up a poultry house for my chicken. I constructed a chicken house that is able to accommodate 400 chicken although it still need some little finishing as you can see from the photos I posted on my discussions page. Last month, I brought in 250 one week old chicks and are doing great so far.

My major challenge at this point is finances to feed the chicks for the next three months and to finish construction of my chicken house. I am very glad that Zidisha Lenders will help me to raise the amount needed to finance my project at this stage.

During my free time I like visiting established poultry farmers, researching on the internet, and interacting with other poultry farmers on social media.

I wish to thank Zidisha founders for coming up with this platform in order to assist entrepreneurs to access funds to start or expand their businesses.

My Business

My major source of income is from my salary from employment, having a net income of about Kshs 15,000 (£150). I also do poultry farming, having 50 indigenous chicken, which currently generate revenue of Kshs 7,000 (£70) on average per month.

My clients are individuals and retail shops who buy my eggs for breeding and consumption purposes. My products are fairly priced and that gives me a competitive edge against my competitors. The major risk and uncertainties facing my business is theft and diseases. However I have put up security measures to minimize security threat and ensured all vaccinations of my chicken against all prevalent diseases are in time.

My plan to increase my flock of chicken to 250 within the next six months has already kicked off. I have already bought all the 250 chicks and constructed a chicken house with a capacity of 400 chicken. A loan of £398 (Kshs 39,808) will go a long way in meeting the cost of feeds for the next three months and complete my chicken house structure.

From my 50 chicken, I make a profit of £70. I also earn £150 from my employment and I expect to use my profit and salary savings to service my loan in the next few months until i start selling eggs from my new brood.

Thank you in advance for holding my hand and walking with me through this life changing journey

Loan Proposal

I am an upcoming commercial poultry farmer planning to increase my stock of 50 chickens to 350 over the next six month. I am seeking for Kshs 19,904 (£200) to expand my poultry farm. I will use the funds to to pay for labour cost for construction of the chicken house.

This is my first loan application and I am very optimistic that I will succeed in this project. I would like to thank all Zidisha lenders in advance for helping me achieve my goal. Thank you.

    Dear Moses,

During your next loan request, please post a photo of yourself at the top of your profile. (This is a Zidisha requirement). The photo needs to clearly show your entire face, preferably smiling, and preferably taken at the location of the project for which you are requesting a loan.

The photo currently in that top spot, you can move to a lower spot on your Discussion page, along with a comment about it for your lenders.

    Kind regards,
    Joost
    Team Zidisha

I have been having financial challenges due to school fees commitments and hence inability to keep payments up to date. I went back to school but I hope I will be able to get back to track soon. Thanks for your patience lenders.

Hi lenders, I wish to take this opportunity for your continuing support to us, young and upcoming entrepreneurs. I am doing great with my poultry, which are now 2 months old. Some of them died in the first two months but right now the risk is minimal.

Hi lenders. I would like to let you know that my new flock of poultry is doing well. I bought the feeds and medications and are doing great. I would like though to adjust my installment downwards since I cannot raise the current instalment of Kshs 1500. I will be able to come back to track in the next installments. Thank you for your continued support.

The loan of Kshs 19,800 that i previously borrowed went a great way to help me buy nails, additional timber and gather for labour cost during construction of my new chicken house structure.

Here are some of the photos of my new chicken coop.

    Hi Lenders,

I would like to give my sincere appreciation for the great journey you have helped me walk so far. I am glad to let you know that I am doing great with my project and I just finished repaying my loan balance today. The money that you lent to me went a great way in setting up my new chicken structure and I have already started the my next project of 250 chicks. Here is a photo of the chicks when they were 1 week old.

The next post shows the chicken house structure which needs some little finishing.

    Dear Lender,

I am humbled once again to request for lower adjustment of my loan installment. The past week was a rough ride for me since I diverted my income to an urgent family matter. I was needed to provide some Ksh 15,000 ($150) to assist my younger brother to pay for TOEFL IBT test fee. However, I promise to come back to track by the next repayment so that my credit score will remain well maintained. Thank you in advance for your understanding.
