About Me

I am the first born in a family of three. My growing up was not that friendly because both my parents were doing odd jobs, hence they could not fully support three of us. I joined Immaculate Primary School in Nairobi, where I finished my primary school, and later joined Matungulu High School and did my O-levels.

After high school, I really struggled before joining college because of school fees. However, I enrolled for a diploma course at Railways Training Institute, where I did a diploma in Business Management.

My life from birth had not been so smooth and therefore after college I really thought that I would get a good job so I could support my siblings, but that was not the case. I went in search of jobs every day for three years without success. It was then that I stopped looking for formal employment and decided to do what I could to employ myself.

I had saved some 300 KSH and that is what I used to start my own business. I went to Nairobi CBD and bought some earrings and bangles and went and sold them to my friends. From the profit I got, I went and bought some more and sold. This happened for like a year, and I had then saved up some amount, so I did market research on where I would set up a shop. It was then that I settled on Ruai shopping center. Why I settled for it is because there is a larger market there and it's close to where I stay, hence I do not use any transport to go to work.

Currently I have no children, but what I know is that I want my children to have the life I never had as a child. That is why am doing the much I can do to make a life for them.

My hobby is watching movies and why I like it is because from there I get to get new ideas of the new fashion trends, and it broadens my thinking in terms of what I do.

I will be delighted to work with Zidisha so that my dreams would become reality.

My Business

I have a beauty shop in Ruai shopping center, where I sell some beauty products and some jewelery. I settled for this kind of business because it became so clear to me how women want to stand out and look beautiful and presentable each day.

After doing my research, I found out that selling women products would be good for me as a beginner in business because the products are cheap and fast-moving. Again, the customer base in that area is quite big.

Every two weeks I go purchase the beauty products from Nairobi CBD at a wholesale price. I do not look for a big profit margin for now; because of the location of the business, I would lose my customers if i did that now. Now I am working towards saving enough money to get capital to put up a shop in the Nairobi CBD, where I would be assured of getting bigger business and bigger profit margins.

Since I do not have children of my own, I save 30% of my profit and the rest 70% I use to educate my siblings, pay rent, give tithe and personal effects.

I am looking forward to getting an investor who will believe in me and help me achieve my goals and live my dream. I would also want to grow and help my family and peers grow by making this platform known to many, so that all of us may grow together and make the world a better place to be. Thank you for believing in me.

Loan Proposal

The main purpose of taking this loan is to restock dresses and jackets in my shop. I discovered that ladies are really good clients if you have good looking unique dresses. I had done my research on the same and found out that most ladies will always buy a dress which has captured them even if they had not budgeted for them and true to my word that is exactly what happens. Having dealt with ladies for a year now I know they love seeing new things not the same old stuff you had and its this that informs me to keep changing the variety of dresses I sell. The reason I want this loan so badly is because at the moment I have nothing I am selling and it is not good for my business because it shows I lack consistency which is the worst in business. The reason I say I have no stock us because just before we went for christmass my shop was raided by thieves and they stole every single thing in the shop yet I had just fully stocked my shop ready for January. This was a very hard blow to me because I had already done my math and had bought some stocks for this month. They literally took me back to zero because I have to start the business afresh. The reason I want that loan so much is because I have to put a good lock in my shop so that next time thieves will not be able to break into my shop again. Secondly I need to buy new stock for my shop (inventory) because I now have nothing to Sell. Thirdly I have to put grills in the shop so that the money counter can be safe and lastly buy a safe to put the money in. The safe and the grills and the lock will cost about 13000ksh. This I have to do because of safety measures. So that next time I wudnt have to go back to scratch. Then the balance I can now stock my shop and life continues. Just the way you believed in my dream when I had nothing to show for it, I ask that you believe in me once more as I start again. I have a big big vision of that shop and I know come the end of this year I will b able to import the same for myself in large quantities through your help. Then I will be able to proudly say I awe my success first to God then to Zidisha. Thanks a lot and my God richly bless you according to His riches and glory even as you plan to fund me.

Margaret faced challenges, but kept lenders informed and repaid in full once she was able to. I would have no hesitation in lending to Margaret again.

Firstly, is to thank all my lenders for the last loan they gave me. The money really boosted my business until I had a medical challenge in my family which really drained me financially and was unable to pay off my loan but I managed to clear it all later. The medical case is now sorted and I'm back to business now this time I want to make the business bigger and better. Thanks once more to my lenders for believing in me and for your patience. God bless you!

I tried to contribute to your new loan but it is already showing as expired. Hopefully it's just a technical glitch. I'll look out for it coming back and contribute.

Dear Esteemed lenders, Firstly kindly accept my apology for really betraying your trust in me. It has really been a hard time for me and I even lack words to express my remorse. I putting myself in your shoes know how it feels to lend someone and not be paid on time. I am writing to you today just to assure you that I intend to clear my loan this month as I am already working on my payment plan. It is not in my behaviour to stay with borrowed money but this time things were very very hard for me such that even my business collapsed. I've managed to start again just small and I am sure I'll pay you before this month ends. It is my prayer that you will understand me and give me a second chance to prove that I am true to my words. May God soften your hearts even as you read me so that you can once again believe in me. It has always been a pleasure working with you and I know credibility is key in business and I promise to be very credible. Thank you soo much for your patience towards me. God bless you all.

Margaret - thanks for the update. Sorry to hear you've had some difficulties, but I'm sure we can wait. Perhaps you should reschedule to reduce your repayments while you wait for your cashflows to improve.

Dear lenders, i take this opportunity first to convey my sincere appologies for not paying on time and also not keeping you updated on my progress thus far.
I also thank you for being very patient with me. I had a small challange which prompted me to go to my upcountry hence closing down my business. This affected my on time repayment and i suppose it also made you doubt me at some point.
I already re opened my shop and am back to business. If you have been following you will notice that i have began paying my loan on time.
Business is really catching up well and thats the reason i have become more consistent in my payments.
I will be posting photos of the new dresses i bought for my shop and am suren
you will love them. i am currently bringing in my dresses from Uganda and my profits have increased tremendously to 40% thats even after paying rent for the shop.
I honestly dont even know where i would be were it not for Zidisha. Zidisha has helped me become an independent woman one who doen not have to wait for the husband to give money for food. I have become so empowered that even my marriage has tremendously improved because my hubby now has more confidence in me than before.
I can afford to surprise him once in a while and my social life has really improved because i can now afford to look for my friends for a cup of coffee. My financial life is really growing and i am glad to say that thanks to Zidisha i am becoming a better woman by the day.
Next week i will be bringing in new designs and my clients cant wait for that.
Thank you my Lenders for making me the woman i am today and thank you Zidisha for giving opportunity to me to finally live my dreams as a reality.

It's wonderful to hear that our small loans have helped improve your business and that the increased financial security has helped you in much wider aspects of your life. I wish you continued success in your business and hope that you'll soon be in a position to make loans to other borrowers on Zidisha yourself! Regards, Matt

Dear lenders, I am deeply sorry for the trouble I have caused you. I have had some challenges that kept me from honouring my weekly payment but I assure you that I will not dissapoint ur belief in me. I personally feel I have ruined my credibility but I will prove to myself and to you my esteemed members that I am worthy of your trust. To start with I will reduce my weekly payment so that I can pay up the amount I have not paid for the last 2 months then after that I will increase the amount to the normal and pay up to the last coin. Had to close up my business for a while because I had travelled to my rural area due to some personal reasons. Now that I am back I will pay up all. I am just hoping and praying that I can get your trust once more. Thank you so much for your patience

I take this opportunity to personally thank you Sir Paul Graham and Matt B for giving your money to make a better me both socially and economically. With the money you have given I will buy new stock for my shop as I have nothing at the moment to sell. I will also put locks on my door to ensure thieves can't break in in the future. I will also buy a safe to put money in the shop and also grill the counter. This tym round I want to do things professionally to avoid mistakes I made last year from re occurring this year. I want to make profit on this money so I can pay back my loan then do some short cources to help me be efficient in business. And I also want to get some money to help the needy those I can reach out to. Thanks again and again for your kind gesture. May God richly bless you and may He cause your pockets to never lack.

Dear lenders, I take this opportunity to thanks you for giving out your money to grow an idea in me. I know its often hard to put in your money in something you r not certain about. However I want to let you know that you have really helped to transform my life. That I must confess. With the loan I took last time I was able to add stock for my dresses as I had informed you n this made my profits to go up. Each dress cost 1300 that's the purchase price and I sold each at 2000 hence per dress after deducting the cost of operation the profit was 500. I was able to buy 14 dresses Hence made a profit of 7000 from the amount you gave me. I again re invested the profit plus the amount you gave me which totaled to 26000. I again bought 20pcs which gave me a total profit of 10,000 ksh. With the profit I was able to save 4000ksh, bought a hand bag for my mother n a shirt for my dad I also bought some shirts n a shoe for my husband and I was able to buy some foodstuff for christmass for a widow in my neighbourhood. It is now evident that Zidisha has come in handy not just for me but also for my family and the community. God richly bless you my lenders.

Thanks to zidisha my life is changing to the best. I can surely testify and say zidisha has gotten me to where I am today. My life is improving tremendously. This November being our first marriage anniversary, I have managed to take my hubby out for a weekend and that's courtesy of u my able lenders. I am so excited about it and I count it a successs. Other than that I have also managed to increase stocks in my shop from 10pcs to 25pcs Hence increasing my profit n my savings. This has enabled me to consistently pay my loan every weekend without struggle hence making both me and my lenders happy. These are the main two things I can say I am really happy about. Thanks so much to my lenders who believed in me and still do. Thanks a lot may God bless u. Attached are photos of my new stock

I once more thank you my lenders for believing in me and helping me and financing me to boost my business. I will forever be greatful to you. With the amount you funded me with I was able to buy more stock for my shop I.e ladies wear n girls wear. I bought a total of 14 dresses for ladies which coated 1300 each and am selling each at 2000 hence getting a profit of 700 per dress. So far I have sold 10pcs which have given me a profit of 7000. With the profit I got I bought some kids clothes 10pcs at 700ksh each which I am selling at 1000ksh Making a profit of 300 per dress. So far I have sold 5pcs of the kids dresses. How I plan to grow is I plan on buying a good phone with the profits I will get so that I can market myself online n get a larger customer base. I have a vision of supplying at least 30pcs per week which I strongly beleive is possible with proper marketing and that's why a good phone is an asset to me now. I also intend to save up some money because in the longrun I want to be shipping in the dresses myself which will be a big plus for me because I will be getting a bigger profit plus I will be able to reduce the selling price to my clients since my expenses will have reduced too. To all my lenders I just want you to know that I value you and I promise to make something out of ur funds. I won't let you down even for a moment. Attached are photos of what I bought
